Summary: Whistler just goes where he's told, even if it seems strange.
Whistler just went where he was told.
Mostly, his job was to set people on the right path. To go and find the people that the Powers needed and to gently nudge them the right way. Some people didn’t want to be pointed, needed more of a shove really. Whistler did his best. The paths didn’t always work out of course. Sometimes people strayed anyway or the path turned out to be not so good. But Whistler just hoped the Powers had known what they were doing when they told him what to do and he did it.
This job was probably the easiest ever. Buy a computer. Give it to Mrs Weaver. Enjoy the money afterwards.
Mrs Weaver didn’t seem their usual client though. When Whistler looked in her eyes, it made him shiver. But he wasn’t meant to question, just to do and he handed over the dinky little computer and went on his way, trying not to think about it any more.
He really did hope the Powers knew what they were doing this time.
