Title: Too Young
Fandom: Lewis
Rating: G
Word Count: 188
Summary: Hathaway is a litle bitter. Lewis is just amused.
Hathaway was looking depressed. Lewis usually ignored it when his sergeant was looking depressed. Hathaway’s natural face shape was vaguely hang-dog. In this case however, he felt able to speak up.
“Cheer up, Sergeant!” he said heartily. “It might never happen!”
“Hm,” Hathaway said despondently.
“It’s about to happen actually,” Doctor Laura Robson said with far too much relish. “Sorry about that James. Have a Queen of Spades.”
Hathaway’s depressed look briefly turned to a sulky pout. He had been maintaining for a while that Laura and Lewis were against him. Clearly, he felt that this was proof of such a thing.
“You can’t play Hearts with three people anyway,” he mumbled.
“Well, you clearly can,” Lewis said. “Otherwise, we wouldn’t be here, would we?”
“I am too young to be playing late-night games of Hearts,” Hathaway insisted, putting down a three of diamonds.
Lewis and Amanda exchanged evil grins. Lewis played a two. Laura played her Ace of Hearts. Hathaway made a tiny noise of despair.
“No offence Sir, but sometimes, I hate you quite a bit,” he said.
“No offence taken, Hathaway,” Lewis said. “Your turn.”
