16 Jonathan Creek
"Well, honestly, Jonathan, isn't it obvious?" huffed Maddy.
"No it absolutely is not!" Jonathan said. "How did you even get up there in the first place?"
"I climbed up the ladder, of course," Maddy said.
"What happened to it?" asked Jonathan.
"The builder took it," said Maddy, with as much dignity as she could muster. "Look, are you going to stand there all day asking stupid questions, or are you actually going to get me down?"
"I'm quite tempted to leave you there, teach you a lesson."
"Don't be ridiculous, Jonathan," Maddy snapped. "Get me down and get a move on. You can't get home without me, and my car will get clamped unless we're back there in fifteen minutes."
"Oh God," said Jonathan. "Can't you just jump down?"
"If I could 'just jump down', do you think we'd be having this discussion? Stop talking and do something!"
Jonathan did. They had to spend three hours in A and E and pay a ridiculous fine to get Maddy's car unclamped. Maddy refused to talk to him for almost two weeks.
17. Ghostbusters
"Will you guys hurry up?" Winston glared around the room. Peter was leaning back, feet on the desk, talking on his cell. He wasn't even wearing his tux. Egon looked as though he might be ready, but he also looked as though he'd assessed the potential readiness of the rest of the room and decided to do something useful while he waited. Unfortunately, when Egon thought he had a tendency to run his hands through his hair, so he was now looking more 'mad scientist' than 'guest of honour.' As for Ray…
"What are you doing?" demanded Winston.
"Feeding Slimer," Ray said.
"He's a ghost, he doesn't need feeding!"
Slimer glared at him and Winston threw up his hands.
"Look, if you slime Venkman, I'll give you a candy bar," he said. Slimer looked at him thoughtfully and Winston produced the candy from his pocket. Slimer swooped at Peter, covering him in slime from head to toe, and Winston handed over the candy, ignoring Peter's shouts of rage.
"We gotta be out that door in ten minutes. Move now, or he does it again."
They moved.
Bones
Hodgins had got into the habit of taking the bus when he went to see Zac. He didn't know why, exactly, though he told everyone it was to do with not wanting to leave any of his cars near the jail.
"So get a cab," Brennan had said when she'd first heard of it.
"Do you know how much that would cost?" Booth had exclaimed.
"He's a billionaire, he can afford it," Brennan had said, blinking in the way she did when she thought you were six steps behind her.
"He wouldn't be for long if he got a cab every time, jeez," Booth retorted.
Hodgins had nodded at him.
"I'm gonna check on the…" he said, making a vague gesture and making his escape while Booth distracted Brennan for him.
Once back at his desk he hadn't checked on anything, just stared out the window for a while, thinking about the way the bus gradually filled up as it moved toward the jail, filled with people who nodded at each other when they got on, all headed toward the same destination.
