I still think this is an odd time to be hired in...but I can't argue with the timing of a job offer when it holds so much potential.Hello, Quovadis. My name is Yomako, your new English teacher for university students. Even though I won't be officially starting until the summer semester, I will be available for extra help on any English-related work ( Read more... )

Hibari Kyouya. So you know, I already speak English very well, I've read a lot of classic novels. This is mostly to keep practice up and hopefully learn something I don't know. Despite my current knowledge, I won't be any less dedicated to getting everything I can out of your class.

I see. Well, in that case, I'll look into challenging you on an individual basis...that is, if you're up to it.

Good to hear! On classic novels--which are your favourites?

I've read about everything Mark Twain has ever written. Charles Dickens, also... A Tale of Two Cities is high on my list of favorites. I also enjoy poetry. The works of Emily Dickenson, Edgar Allen Poe...

Walt Whitman is someone I admire very much. Not just for his poetry.

Good taste--though Dickens tends to get a bit long-winded for my own preference. Have you tried Thoreau? His world views are much like that of Whitman's.

I haven't, actually. I'll look into his works, though. Thank you for the recommendation.

Also, I do agree that a good amount of patience is often needed when reading Dickens.

Pick up a novel called Walden when you can. It's his most notable work. If you're a fan of nature, you'll love it.
