PERSONALITY
Yoko is a spunky, no-nonsense, steadfast, selfless woman, with looks to kill and a really big gun to do it with if you dare mention it. She keeps a straight face in every situation...or tries to at least. Along with being a very strong individual, she's also a strong team player, taking on her duties without question or hesitation, or even taking up unassigned tasks without having to be asked to. She also has times where she takes on the role of the mother hen, but usually only after the battle is fought and won.

Yomako is the perfect image of a lovable teacher. Most of her students look up to her like a mother figure because of her ability to be consistent and understanding. She has had several troublesome kids before, and they all came out of her class better people with her direction. She always has a smile on her face and is almost impossible to visibly anger--she has her own unique way of dealing with issues, and the instigator usually walks away from the situation with the proverbial egg on his or her face.

BACKGROUND
Yoko Ritona originates from the underground village of Ritona in a world where the surface-dwelling Beastmen terrorize humans. The village, which was an abandoned weapons cache, is forced to face the Beastmen when a poisonous gas leak forces the villagers out. Yoko is recognized as the best markswoman of all the villagers, so she is given the privilege of using the strongest weapon they have: a sniper rifle (much like a Barrett M82) along with a selection of handguns. She meets up with Kamina and Simon from Jiiha village, when a Beastman-piloted Ganmen mecha crashes into the unsuspecting village, followed suit by Yoko and her bullets. The invading Ganmen is eventually felled by Simon and a miniature Ganmen he found while drilling. Together, they decide to fight for the freedom of humans and rebel against the Beastmen and their leader, Lord Genome.

Along their journey, they make several friends and enemies, as well as developing stronger bonds between each other. This affection eventually turns into a love triangle, Simon developing unrequited feelings for Yoko, while Yoko develops requited feelings for Kamina. The net is ruined one fateful night when Simon spots Kamina and Yoko kissing, and then hours later they lose Kamina in battle. Life moves on, however, and the now-named Dai-Gurren Brigade heads on after mourning as Simon struggles with the loss. He eventually finds the strength to fight on through the disowned daughter of Lord Genome, Nia, and eventually defeats him.

Over the next seven years, technology moves blisteringly fast as humans find themselves free to populate the surface, mostly in Kamina City, which is now run by the entirety Dai-Gurren Brigade, with the exception of Yoko. She decides that she wants nothing to do with politics, and leaves to become an elementary school teacher on a remote island under the alias of Yomako Sensei.

ABILITIES
Yoko is skilled with pretty much any kind of long-range weapon, although she prefers the sniper rifle she was given when she was a kid. In combat, she hangs behind to take out enemies who might be attempting a sneak attack on those in front. However, she doesn't have much upper body strength, and doesn't do very well in hand-to-hand combat, even if she will resort to it if she has to.

Oh, and she chucks a mean piece of chalk.
