Recession Woes
It's a really good thing that I had surgery when I did and that I'm recovering okay. 'cause Monday my stepfather lost his job, and the insurance coverage stopped that day. Can't afford COBRA.
Oh, and to add insult to injury, they left him effectively stranded at the company HQ. In the Middle of Nowhere, Wisconcin.
On a slightly different note, I attended a protest this afternoon, against a bill to cut the State of AZ University System's funding by what amounts to 40% of its total budget. Granted, Arizona does have a gaping hole in its ability to pay for the services that it's committed to provide, and the money's got to come from somewhere. But education is hardly as expendable as it's being treated.
Left the rally after the second guy with a press pass shoved his camera lens in my face. Being seen to show support is good, but that's closer than I'm really comfortable with.
