Just the other day, 12gal of gas cost me roughly $50. I go through about that much in a week, even getting good gas mileage and refraining from all unnecessary use of the car. So, gas now rivals the cost of groceries.
Now, the cost of a monthly bus pass is $51. If not for the fact that I need to go places at odd times (such as the middle of the night), I'd be very tempted to make the changeover for my weekly commute. The other parts of my schedule are even less regular, which makes it discouraging that Phoenix has so little in the way of major nodes that one can simply bus into, do nearly all necessary activities on foot, and then bus out again.
On the plus side, I'm fixing up the car, to attempt to sell Very Soon Now. The search for a buyer will begin the day after my last day of work.
