The master merely gazed at him with an amused look. He turned to Kuina as she approached her father and Zoro, who was turning redder by the minute. The master didn't seem proud, nor did he look down on Zoro with pity as he said the next line.
"Kuina may be a girl, but she is stronger than most of the adults here at the dojo."
"Tch, fine!"
[ the dream goes fuzzy for a while, as if making a sudden transition to the next part of the dream ]
"This is... my 2,001st win."
This part of the dream was a little rushed, with only a few parts that stood out. Zoro breathed heavily as he laid sprawled out on the grass. He felt a crushing pain in his chest, as he lifted his hands to his face and gritted his teeth. It was her 2,001st win. He still couldn't believe it, and in his frustration, he started to curse and cry. Kuina cut him off, with her back to him.
"I'm the one who feels like crying," she said, her voice strained. "Women... become weaker when they grow up. One day, you'll even pass me. You're lucky you're a boy, Zoro."
Zoro was stunned at first, but became angry in an instant.
"Why are you saying such pathetic stuff?! I've been training so hard to beat you, but you're crying even though you're so strong! You're making me look like an idiot!"
He walked up to her with a more determined look on his face now.
"Promise! One of us will become the greatest swordsman in the world!"

Zoro is training outside in his usual manner, building up his stamina. He sensed a familiar presence behind him and stopped his training long enough to speak to a few boys from his dojo. They looked strange, and pale, as if they had just seen a ghost. Zoro felt a wave of uneasiness course through his body. One boy in the middle managed to speak:
"Kuina... is dead."
