Had a good lesson on Friday with DavidBowie. He pretty much wiped the rink with me and I loved every minute of it. I was doing those back crossrolls into an outside circle things (and very badly indeed), so we started with that, then did back progressives and of course evil mohawks. Then a few runthrough of Fiesta Tango, which I'm finally starting to feel comfortable enough on to think about thing things like knee bend and expression. Will wonders never cease?
Next we ran through Willow Waltz. First solo and then together. Of course the drop 3 was giving me problems, so we spent some time doing waltz 3s in hold - and for the first time, I GOT it. Got how it was supposed to feel, both upper and lower body. Of course it won't be there next week, but I don't even care, now I know that eventually, in about ninety seven years, I WILL get these consistent.
Then he wanted to see Ten Fox. The dance I broke my arm on. That I haven't really done since. Eeep. I started off gamely enough, but chickened out when it came to the outside mohawk. He made me start again from the progressives, and I did the mohawk, continued with the dance, and did another full pattern, complete with the moahawk. It was dreadful and sloppy and altogether bad, but I did it.
We finished off with a new version of torture, which is 5 power pulls on one foot, do a complete circle on an outside edge, do a crossroll, and then repeat onthe other side. Now I actually laughed when he showed me this, but I attempted it nonetheless and actually managed it rather better than expected. We were both pretty pleased.
Husband is still in Japan, so I went back to my student hovel (instead of going home to husband like I usually do on Friday after my lesson), got cleaned up, went to an evening lecture, and then went dancing until 1:30AM. I was *much* more tired than last week, even though I danced far more last week. Turns out skating? Is tiring!
