Summary: Unknowingly affected by one of the events Paradise often subjects its citizens to, RED is about to find his mind isn't as closed off as he'd like.
Those who entered this dreamscape found themselves in what the mercenaries called a respawn room. Sturdy walls framed the room, blue accents painted along the lines of brick; the letters BLU were emblazoned near the door, a reminder of just whose side they were on. Lockers with supplies lined the room, each cubby with distinctive pieces of gear for individual members of the team: grenade cases, a bottle of scrumpy, a baseball cap, a pair of boxing gloves. On another wall was a cabinet filled with medical supplies and guns. Aside from a door leading to an office, there was one other exit- a steel door akin to something found in a garage bay.
After a few moments of silence, a voice chimed in over a loudspeaker located in the corner of the room- "Mission begins in ten seconds."
And surely enough, something did happen ten seconds later, as promised: the steel door sprang open, despite there being no one there to lift it. The world that lay beyond the threshold was unmistakably a desert, heat rising from every grain of sand as the blistering sun baked the landscape and everything in it. The field was decorated with not only things expected of such terrain- cacti, rock formations- but also with buildings: some were industrial, like the respawn room, while others were rural in nature, constructed of lumber and bearing the emblem for a company called RED. In the far distance was a wooden farmhouse with a large, metal disc embedded into the ground before it, the light at its center a vibrant red. Past the metal point was another door, a rusted grate that barred the way to the inside- it was to be opened only once the point had been captured.
Getting to the point was the challenge. The building itself had several windows and a bridge coming from one side- and standing at one of those windows was RED, gun in hand, keen eyes watching the arid expanse like a hawk. It was his job to defend the point, a task he intended to do until death.
But just what else was he protecting?
