"Points. Those briefcases we had to protect. Hopefully Soldier. That'd be a plus." The list of things Sniper was sure they'd never see again was fairly lengthy if he included the good and the bad. And thinking of that brought a question that admittedly troubled him to mind: would it really be all that terrible if they didn't go back?

Of course it would be. Chances were he wouldn't be able to pursue anything with Pyro if they did, but perhaps it'd be like he heard, where people disappeared and when they came back, they had no recollection of ever being at Paradise at all. RED had thought that notion would settle him; it did not. He couldn't miss what he'd never known he'd had, right?

That troubled look bled onto him as he watched the dogs. It wasn't just Pyro who'd be left behind if they did go home. What would happen to Teriyaki?

He pushed his fingers under his glasses, rubbing his eye, irritated at that feeling that pooled in his chest. He recognized it as attachment, as some forming contentment with his circumstances. He was still struggling to come to terms with what he had with Pyro- anything more was crossing a line.

"Wouldn't mind seein' one 'f them briefcases again. Least in this place, probably ain't any repercussions fer opening th' things. I wouldn't mind knowin' what we're fightin' fer. Though it's probably jus' a bunch of blank papers." He had to admit he was curious about the contents of the briefcase, even though he'd still do his job regardless of what was in it, he wasn't getting paid to care about what was inside. But still, he wanted to know.

"Troid askin' one of th' Spies 'bout it once, th' way he avoided th' question made me think he didn't know either." Glancing over at the RED he noted the new more upset posture and turned quickly so he was looking elsewhere. "You alroight mate?"

"I'm fine, mate," RED answered on reflex, sounding marginally less fine than he insisted. "I never thought too hard about what was in those things. So long as we were getting paid." One thing was for certain: things had been a lot simpler when it was just him and the job. He no longer had his parents or their approval looming over him, but they'd simply been replaced with other concerns, ones he knew better than to get worked up over... and yet, they still controlled him in some way.

He was quiet a moment. There was a part of him that was hesitant to bring up their drinking night again, especially after what had happened- apparently and allegedly. Still, there were some questions he couldn't answer on his own. "Sorry about last time I was at your house, mate. I really underestimated how bad my tolerance is these days. Bein' in the hospital'll do that to ya, I suppose."

The BLU shrugged and decided to let it drop reaching down to pat both Tipsy and Teriyaki who seemed to have come to some sort of truce, with Tipsy laying down and chewing on her toy, just watching the other dog.

"S'not a problem. Mostly my fault. Pretty sure I encouraged ya t' give Pyro a mailbox wrapped in foil." Actually he was definitely sure that's what he did, and looking back on it he couldn't fathom why. He didn't think he was that drunk where giving someone a mailbox would be a good idea, not to mention that he wasn't about to encourage the RED's completely unprofessional relationship with a teammate.

"It- mostly your fault!?" RED's mood shifted in an instant, so much so that even Teriyaki's head turned toward them as the pup wondered if something was wrong with his master. "What the bloody hell were you encouragin' me for?"

"Hey, it was yer bloody idea! I jus' went along with it!" He snorted irritably and pulled his hat lower over his eyes.

"Yer th' one who started carryin' on about how you should be gettin' Pyro presents for some blasted reason. I jus' said if you were gonna get her somethin' you should wrap it." Granted his suggestion had also involved said wrapping being a bow made of tin-foil but he was fine with leaving that detail out.

"Would've been nice for you to knocked some bloody sense into me," RED cut back, teeth grinding as he bristled. "I was too pissed to know what I was doing. I don't even remember half the night, unlike you."

"Well it seemed loike a good idea at th' toime! Wasn't loike I was stone cold sober or nothin'." Though admittedly he had been sober enough to have stopped the RED had he really wanted to. But for some reason he hadn't.

"Did you actually give her th' mailbox?"

"Apparently." RED pushed his glasses aside, rubbing his face as he recalled the mortification he'd experienced when he found out what he'd done in his state of inebriation.

BLU just grunted in response and stared off into the distance, trying to not think too hard about any of this.

"An' how'd it go?"

"I... have no idea." To be fair, he did have some clue, given what had happened on Valentine's Day and how things were advancing faster than he could process them.

He rubbed the back of his neck. "To be honest, I don't even remember givin' it to her. She didn't try to kill me with it, so I assume she didn't think it was all that bad."

"I'm sure it was cos 'f my fine packagin' advice." He smirked a bit, sure he didn't really condone what was going on, but it was hard to escape the comedic quality of giving someone a mailbox.

RED didn't have an answer to that, rubbing at his eyes again before resting his hand over his mouth, eyes locked on the landscape ahead. There was definitely something he wanted to say in the gap, but couldn't find the words.

"Hn. Don't worry too much 'bout it. I'm sure it could always be worse roight?" Oh BLU was on a roll with throwing RED's words right back in his face.

"S'probably a good indicator that we shouldn't be drinkin' together or nothin'. We have bad ideas when we get pissed."

The silence on RED's end continued as his words were returned to him. It was true it could have been much worse. She could have not liked the gift, and then he... wouldn't have gotten entangled with her, perhaps. That would have made things less complicated, and probably been considered an improvement. Or maybe not, given how he felt about her, as difficult as it was to admit to even himself.

Just thinking about it made him that much more uncomfortable. His eyes hardened their gaze as he tried to push it from his mind. "S'not much fun drinkin' alone, but I'm inclined to agree. I don't need any more bad ideas."

"Least we didn't start shootin' out windows or anythin'." He pulled his hat off to run his fingers through his hair while he thought about how best to word what he wanted to say next. He didn't really know the extent of RED and Pyro's relationship and quite frankly he didn't want to. But he did consider his rival, .. not necessarily a friend but definitely more than an acquaintance, and therefore he actually did care about not wounding the man's feelings.

But by the same token he thought the other Sniper was traveling down a rocky path that was completely unprofessional and would eventually come back to bite him. Even if things worked out splendidly for the both of them, there was never any guarantee that one or both of them wouldn't be suddenly pulled back to the reality of base life back home. And if what Manic said was to be trusted, they might not remember any of this when they got here.

Assuming they both disappeared. It would be an uncomfortable situation all around if only one of them was sucked away due to Paradise's whims. He wasn't good at comforting anyone, not his crotchety counterpart and certainly not Pyro. It would be better all around if whatever it was that was going on between those two was ended before it went too far.

"Course givin' her a present ain't th' best way t' get her to leave you alone. Provided that's still what ya want."
