Covered the apartheid in South Africa in the 1970's & 80's.
The only anchor to appear live for 25 consecutive hours.
Was ABC's main anchor for the Sept. 11 coverage.
Made the news bearable for me & even cracked me up once in awhile on TV (although sometimes not on purpose).
