Should I stay or should I go?

Some of you may have noticed a small break in proceedings. There are reasons for this. The fact that I am something of a computer dunce is one of them. The fact that I am preoccupied with another project is another. That being the case, I anticipate a decrease in what work I post here. For now, I make this rather modest offering, because quite ( Read more... )

I have this urge to save every story now before this disappears again -- you're one of my favourite authors, so finding your journal deleted made me kick myself for not saving them earlier. No one else captures Alexander and Hephaistion like you, as though they are just here, before us.

And you write them as men, with faults, with tempers, bad habits and all the other things ancient warrior-conquerors and their friends had.

If you ever are published, and I think you must already be, or certainly will be, will you let us know? You really do have a gift for telling a captivating story.

Anyways, off to hoarde like a dragon before, like Brigadoon, your journal disappears again!

Hoarde ...? Well hey, as long as it's for personal use, hoarde all you like. Since, you know, you seem to like what I do. ;)

On the publication front, lets just say things are pending. Which is why I anticipate less scribbling going on here, as I have a bit of "real work" to be getting on with. Heh. Scary, huh?

Thanks for the response, it's rather flattering anyone even notices this stuff, let alone wants to hoarde any of it!

Well that was the shortest deletion, liek eva!!!1! I mean, dood, melodramatic much or wot???

No seriously, because you are not in fandom it's okay, but if you *were*, you'd be getting wanked right about now, but good. :-D

Really enjoyed the play the other night, very glad we went. My moving breakdown continues. Have resorted to paying my sister to unpack my books for me. My AV room is now comletely ready (very first room I set up, naturally, I can sleep in ten centimetres of space in a bed covered in boxes, but woe betide I can't watch dvds...) and I am good to go. But the lounge is strewn with debris, and I can't face the chaos. I want to hide in the study and read fic. Oh, and look, here *is* one, just for me... How fortunate.

Hehe. Yes. Well. Small techical difficulty - that being, I'm about as computer savy as a goldfish. Turns out (wonder of wonders) that you can delete entries in these things at will, without having to wipe out the thing entirely. Are you laughing at me? Yeah, I bet you are.

Now, I seem to remember some minor scandal involving one sister and the uncovering of a stash of dodgy reading material in your service previously ... I'm guessing that either you've done a better job of hiding the cough cough adult content this time, or you've decided to throw caution and your reputation to the hounds, since she's seen it all already. Corrupting todays youth, much? Or just exploiting them ( ... )

Or in this case trying to fit seven queen and king size beds into a four bedroom house... And three fridges... And fifteen bookcases... And... Get the picture? There are four computers networked in my study! I have a network! *snickers* And yeah, evidently way better with the wee shiny boxes than you. Though not the gee-gees. Hephaistion racing along his cliff just made me ill.

Yeah, because I come out in a cold sweat at the just the word "network", but horses don't worry me a bit.

Seven queen and king size beds? *blinks* What the ...?

Sorry to post a comment so late after the your story was written, but I've just started posting comments to my favorite authors so here goes...I've read, re-read, and re-re-read all your stories. You are a remarkable writer, and should, if there is any justice in the world, be published ( if that is what you want of course)The first story I read by you was "Saviour" and I was blown away by the writing. So concise and yet descriptive. It did what Renault's writing does for me, it perfectly evoked a time and a place so different from my own yet entirely believable. I know your Alexander and Hephaistion are, by your own admission, not Renault's but entirely yours, but like her you've given them maturity, strength, intelligence, and masculinity. They are real "men" here, who also happen to be deeply in love ( and lust) with each other. I enjoy many different varieties of A/H fanfiction but your take on their relationship seems very real to me, and in light of other stories I've read, very refreshing. ( I also like you keeping Bagoas in ( ... )

There is no such thing as feedback that comes too late. Thanks for taking time out to respond, and I'm pleased - and rather flattered - that you think so much of my writing. I'm happy to be able to tell you that at least one large publishing house shares your opinion when it comes to that, and this is why I have been MIA when it comes to dumping things here.

Thank you for your comments regarding my characterisation of Alexander and Hephaistion - I dislike stick-figure characters in stories and the application of wildly inappropriate or anachronistic values to ancient individuals and societies makes me squirm. I try to avoid it in my own work as best I can, but this is of course a matter of opinion. In any case, I'm glad that what I do works for you. Thanks.

Sorry once again for this post seemingly out of nowhere, but I was once again re-reading your wonderful stories ( since, alas, there doesn't seem to be any new ones! This is, of course, a great pity but I know you have your reasons, so I will respectfully but sadly shut up on this point and just enjoy the riches here! ) when I noticed I couldn't find a story that I could have sworn was posted here. It had to do with Alexander watching Hephaistion wrestle and getting increasingly hot and bothered by what he sees and hears when several onlookers start commenting on Hephaistion's "charms" It was one of my favorites and I'm sorry I can't seem to find it. Am I that computer-challanged that it's here and I'm missing it or did you delete it from your site? Thanks!

Sorry for the huge delay in responding to this. No, you're not nuts, that story was here but I yanked it for various reasons to do with what else I have been working on. I'm always kind of surprised when people actually notice that I've removed things from here, I tend to think people read them once and leave a comment (or not) and then move on. If the story was a special favourite, my apologies for disappearing it.
