I met Michael Rupert today, in a tiny intimate theatre space on 67th Street. He originated and is on the cast recordings of March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland (my favorite musicals, also, he is my favorite actor in musical theatre) and Elegies: A Song Cycle. I'm sure there's more recordings, but these are how I know him and his work. He was doing a stage reading of a new musical as a part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and it was free! Called Campaign of the Century.
Anyhow, I mustered up the courage to introduce myself, and I gave him my contact information, email, number, name, and he said he would get up with me in the beginning of the new year, to give me information on his master class "Acting a Song".
I love him. And I think during the performance he may have glanced my way a time or two. Which doesn't surprise me that much, considering I must look like a fool when I watch theatre, I laugh loudly, I cry boldly, I swoon audibly, I watch love scenes as if I myself were in love. So, I must be pretty hard to not watch when in the front row, laughing, crying, swooning, and loving every minute of it.
Whew. What a day.
