John Water's A DIRTY SHAME is one of the worst & most sociopolitically dangerous movies I've come across in recent memory. It's representation of sexual deliquents as uncontrollable and socially destructive is potentially catastrophic and will doubtlessly be utilized as repressive artillery by the right. I think its supposed to be sexual satire with a sex/fetish-positive messege. To say its merely irresponsible would be generous.
My ex is interviewing him for Next and I think he should take a switchblade. I have lots more to say about this, for instance how I believe Waters went overboard in hopes of salvaging his former "hip" Pink Flamingos image, but am exhausted after my last post.
