Anita's expression brightened as he pecked the tops of her fingers, and her hand moved to cover over another giggle when he released it. A bad actor, but he was quite the gentleman. Not that anything less should be expected from a boy wealthy enough to just go out and buy a new pair of scissors. "No, you're more of a Red-Herring." She replied with a nod at his comment.

Then came the odd nickname and offer from the other male. Go to the Host Club for cake? She wasn't sure what was more sugary, the cake or Haninozuka, but she wasn't sure on what to do. To go to the Host Club or to not go to the Host Club. That was a rather difficult decision. On one hand she would be able to find out what they do here and on the other it was almost like stepping straight into the lion's den. If they were some sort of cult, she didn't want to get involved.

In any case, if she did go, she didn't want to go alone. And, seeing as there was no way she could take Watson with her, her gaze turned up to Rain. "Oh, come on. We wouldn't have to stay for long." The 'we' implying what she was trying to emphasize with her cunning grin: if I'm going, then you have to go, too. Just in case she needed to be bailed out from any sort of sticky situation, of course.

(ooc: SLDKJF SLDFKJ YER ICONS ARE SO CUTE CARA. ps tantei = detective xD)

A red-herring? Rain let out a laugh, clearly amused by the double-meaning behind his second new nick-name. But then came the cheerfully deceiving look from 'Ani-chan', and the sound turned from the amused laugh to an uneasy chuckle. "Mah, wait a minute, Tantei-san," he said, holding up his hands the way one would if they were trying to placate a begging child.

"I'm not just going to waltz into the host club." The idea was certainly amusing enough, but it wasn't plausible. "You'll be more safe in there than I will be, by any means." Rain offered her an equally cunning grin disguised as a charming smile. "The only boys in that room are members of the Host Club, while everyone else are their delighted female customers. I would stick out like a sore thumb--one blue suit too many."

The young man shifted his wrist slightly, studying his watch for a moment. "Besides, I have half an hour before my club starts. Wouldn't want to miss that--as I am the president." Making his first visit to Ouran's renowned Host Club wasn't on his list of things to do today--or well, ever.

The Host Club members were all male, but they had no male customers? On that note... the girls that went there were customers. What wanton sort of business were they running in that room without any adult supervision?! Her mind was quickly shifting through the worst possible scenarios found in mystery movies every now and then, but all of that was nothing she would expect in a high class school such as Ouran. It was simply... scandalous! That's exact what it was! But no, no, no, no, it couldn't have really been what she was thinking. She shook her head at her own assumptions, knowing very well that it couldn't possibly be that bad. Jumping to conclusions would get her nowhere. Back to the much more important matter of the moment.

"I see... Well, you were invited by our dear senpai here, so I'm sure you'd be welcomed, and I'd say half an hour is plenty of time to eat a piece of cake, buuut..." Anita frowned in contemplation, her eyes drifting to the ceiling again while she thought. She had to work this out before she pulled herself into the situation any further. If she still went to the club, she couldn't go alone and at the moment there was no one else around that she could trust. Not that she even knew she could trust Rain, she just knew that he wasn't involved. Perhaps some other time she could get him to put on a dress and then... Well, no, she doubted that would happen. "To make sure you're not late for your club, the cake will just have to be postponed for another day, I suppose. My apologies, Haninozuka-senpai." She gave boy who did not look his age an apologetic smile, cleverly using Rain's excuses to excuse herself as well.

His expression changing from a sad one, to a happy one, and back to the sad one, the boy was thrown into an emotional loop by the two underclassmen as he patiently waited for their response. Hani knew that Kyouya was looking for more customers (of course not knowing/caring that the amount of cake he eats at the club was causing the club to lose a certain percentage of their budget but nonetheless) and Tamaki would be delighted to see new faces. The king was highly proud of the club he had established and nothing made him happier to help it grow. Overall, he thought it would be fun~♥ Recognizing that the hall they were was the underclassmen wing, he quickly grew a sly smile as he made another attempt to invite potential new friends.

"Ahh~ You guys are both in the same grade as Kyou-chan and Tama-chan~♥ You should go visit them too~! Or...." Putting on his most teary eyed face, the blond tried his best to place a guilt trip, first facing Rain. "Do you... hate us~~ Guri-chan~~~~!??" Slowly turning towards Anita, he gave her the same exact look hoping that he would be successful. "Ani~chan~?"

Making his stealthy appearance (as was usual) Nekozawa said in a low, dark voice, "I feel something amiss in the Host Club."

Rain was just about to insist that, just because he was missing out on the activities of the Host Club, by no means did it mean that Anita couldn't enjoy herself there, when..... Hani-senpai released the infamous puppy-eyes of doom that Rain had heard so many stories about. And they were as potent as the stories told. "Erk..." he uttered involuntarily, taking a small step back and swallowing hard.

All while growing up, he had been a victim of his sister's puppy eyes. And Lilly had trained him early on that to disobey the puppy eyes was to break the law (although, he had always been convinced it was supposed to be used by the younger sibling, but everyone else seemed convinced it was the cuter one). Thus, this attack from the cute Senpai (he would admit, though it was strictly based on the fact that the blonde looked no more than five years old) caught him off-guard.

Yet before he could grudgingly agree to come along to the Host Club (no more than five minutes, he really did have to be somewhere), another character popped up out of nowhere. "Ahhh, Nekozawa-senpai! How nice of you to... drop in!" Hmmmm this was certainly turning out to be a little more of a meeting than he had originally planned. What had started out as a little teasing conversation with his classmate turned out to two surprise attacks from some of Ouran's most well-known 3rd years.

She really didn't expect the senior's reaction. Such disappointment over something so simple! The girl gently placed a hand over her frown and gave a look of sympathetic contemplation. Just because she didn't want to go alone didn't mean that she hated him! Those words matched with those eyes just made her feel guilty. Who could say no to the boy after an attack like that? Her blue eyes turned to look at Rain again. By his own reaction, it was clear that even with his club to get to there was no way that he could say no now either. Very well played! She couldn't say that she wasn't thankful about the fact that Rain would have to cave, too. At least... that's what she thought was going to happen until a rather grim-looking person came into the scene.

Once again, Anita nearly jumped at the sudden entrance, but managed to keep herself from doing so. Now this one was a spook. It rarely got weirder than a guy snooping around halls with a puppet in a black cloak. Sure, she snooped, but... she was nothing compared to that 3rd year. "What... sort of amiss?" And... he brought bad news? Was that something she should've expected from a man in black? Maybe that was the question she should've been asking instead.

Hani knew he had them. Looking at Rain's reaction and then at Anita's it was clear that he was going to be able to bring them with him when all of a sudden. Dropping his puppy eyes and replacing it with a surprised alert look to his face, Hani sensed the presence behind him but didn't flinch. He was used to people come up behind him and reflexively set himself to defense mode, especially from all the combat training he's done, but he knew he was in a school environment. Besides, that utterly creepy presence just had to be...

Lifting his head up and seeing the expected Nekozawa towering over him with his usual puppet of doom, the blond third year smiled and greeted him back. "Neko-chan~♥ What's up?"

Rain took this moment of distraction to chance a look down at his watch. "Ahhh.... Now I only have 10 minutes..." Apparently he had stood talking a little longer than he should have. "I'm terribly sorry, Haninozuka-senpai, Nekozawa-senpai." Offering a bow to both of them, the red head backed up a step and shifted his school bag from one hand to the other.

"I really must be going. I can't be late for my own club meeting. My visit to the Host Club must be put on hold until another time." The tall male turned and took a few steps then paused--turning to glance at the petite female over his shoulder. "Dunning-san, come with me if you don't mind." He offered her a polite smile to make up for the fact that he reached out and grasped onto her arm. "I would like very much to continue our conversation from earlier." Using that as an excuse to remove her from her spot on the hall, Rain continued on at his rather brisk pace until they were out of sight of the two third years.

He slowed down a bit, releasing his grip on the girl's arm. "Sorry for dragging you along behind me--it just looked like you would have preferred to not visit the Host Club as well." Rain chuckled lightly.

(ooc: urrr Ionno what Hani and Nekozawa plan on doing xD Anita and Rain will continue using this thread for a little while longer~~)

Anita was eagerly awaiting an answer to the question, but before an answer could be obtained Rain stepped in with a minor interruption. He was leaving just when she thought that they'd have a chance to go to the Host Club with Haninozuka. It was mildly disappointing, but more importantly she'd have to think of a way to excuse herself now that he was leaving. Or... so she thought. And that's when Rain turned back to her. The polite smile was returned with one of her own, though that was shifted into one of surprise when he grabbed her arm. Apparently she was going along, too. It seemed odd, but at least she wouldn't have to think of any excuses then. She gave a quick wave of parting to the two seniors and quickly stepped along with the taller 2nd year.

Finally, Rain released her arm once they had gotten far enough away. She shook her head at his last statement and let out a gentle laugh of her own. "Well, no, not alone anyway. Thank you." Anita admitted, briefly turning her head back for a moment just to double check that they hadn't been followed. How odd that encounter was! Part of her was still curious over what Nekozawa was trying to warn them about, but she'd just have to let it go. Turning back, she gave him an apologetic grin. "I should be the one saying sorry for trying to drag you into that though."

He shook his head. "Think nothing of it. I'm sure visiting the Host Club while still a member of the Ouran Academy will eventually become inevitable. Almost like... a right of passage." The tall male shrugged his shoulders as he trailed off. "Though it is certain that there are several odd characters that are associated with the Host Club. I'm not too sure if I'm ready to become one of those characters."

Rain gave a heavy sigh, mussing up his red hair as he glanced down at the watch on his wrist. "Ahh... I suppose I really must be going." His blue eyes shifted back over to Anita. "Well then, Dunning-san, it was a pleasure meeting you. Your Red-Herring must excuse himself at this moment." He offered the girl a polite bow. "I shall see you in class tomorrow." With a quirked smile, the young man stepped around her and continued on his way down the pink halls.

Well, at least he didn't mind. That was good. She nodded happily at his statement, though she was still wondering what the complete list of the said odd characters looked like. Chances were that that discovery would have to wait some time now, but at least it was now something definitely on her to-do list. After all, she was curious from the start, but the conversation that just took place made her that much more intrigued. "If that's the case, then just be sure to tell me before you go. Well... if you're able to, that is. They just might abduct you the next time." Anita suggested jokingly and with a laugh even though she was actually dead serious about the statement.

"It was a pleasure meeting you, too. Have a lovely time at your club!" His bow was met with a equally polite curtsy before she gave a wave goodbye. She watched him for a moment as he walked away. Silently, she was still contemplating a few things in her mind, though she turned away herself soon after. How very strange that all was!
