To say that Hani was excited about the bake-off would be an understatement. Anything he did with Takashi was fun; if his other friends from the Host Club were involved, it would be that much more fun -- even if they were all competing against each other. He had already spotted the Twins and Haruhi (two excited redheads and one rather bemused looking brunette), as well as Kyouya, Tamaki, and Darya (two looking exciting and ready to bake, one busy with clipboards and setting things up). He and Takashi were the only team of two, but Hani didn't care. They would try their best -- wasn't that the point?!
The short third-year was pulled out of his musings as he was greeted, and Hani's smile grew wider when he saw Kasanoda. Eyes bright with happiness, he waved excited at the younger boy, his clear voice ringing across the short distance between them.
"Bossanova-chan!" he chirped. "Are you here to watch the bake-off?" His head canted to the side slightly, he waited for an answer, rocking on his heals in excitement.
Mori had missed the underclassman’s boisterous greeting. He had been too busy looking around and settling on a perfect spot to begin their part of the Bake Off. The job was appointed to him because Hani was much too busy bouncing in excitement at the thrill of the competition and even more at the idea of cakes. It wasn’t that Mori wasn’t excited, it was just that there were jobs needed to be done which usually came down to his responsibility.
At Hani’s cheerful greeting that glittered from the blonde perched on his head-thus, Mori couldn’t have missed it-Mori’s head turned slowly until he spotted the flamboyant redhead stalking through the crowds of gathering students. When the redhead approached, Mori have a nod and a half-grunt, half-osu, in imitation (Perhaps his attempt at friendly humor

Kasanoda blinked at Haninozuka's greeting, then studied the slowly-gathering chaos around him. "Bake ... Off?" he murmured, half to himself, as he spotted Fujioka Haruhi examining a gleaming chrome egg-beater with what seemed to be delighted satisfaction. He caught her eye, and as she beamed at him, he turned away, a hint of colour rising to his face.
"And .. uh ... this Bake-Off," he said, clearing his throat, "the Host Club is taking part, yeah?"
And as his senpais nodded, a strange idea took form in Kasanoda's bright-red head. Here it was: a chance to prove himself to Fujioka Haruhi that he WASN'T just a yankee fashion-loving son of a yakuza lord! Besides gardening, Kasanoda knew one of his driving (albiet very secret) talents was cooking. He could just imagine Haruhi's charming smile as he handed her a box of perfectly-iced cupcakes to her, and blushed at the thought

Huh? Well this was an unexpected request, and although Mori definitely didn’t show it, he was somewhat impressed and slightly surprised by the underclassman’s hesitant favor. The dark-haired upperclassman glanced briefly down at his shorter companion. Hani was beaming, and just registering Kasanoda’s request. The blonde opened his mouth excitedly to bounce back a response. Mori also immediately made his decision; he was a deep thinker, but he was also quick, so the answer was already popping into his head and fell off the tip of tongue in another half-grunt half-coherent; “Let’s find a table together
( ... )
The blond was also slightly surprised at the underclassman's request, but he didn't have any objections, either. It was a good thing, he thought, that Kasanoda was starting to join in activities at school, and while he wasn't a member of the Host Club, there was no reason to not let him bake. Darya was on one team, after all, and he had heard the girls talking about how exciting it was to have 'regular' students help, as well as hoping to maybe be selected to participate in the next event. Their squeals of excitement and playful debates of who would win filled the air.
Seeing no need to really voice his approval -- Mori had already done so, and his cousin's words more than suited -- Hani took a hold of Kasanoda's arm, a brilliant smile on his face as he half-lead, half-dragged the red head over to the table. As they got close enough for the other club members to hear, Hani waved to get at least one person's attention.
"Now the teams are even! Bossanova-chan is helping us!"
"..." Haruhi didn't really have much to say to that. It looked like Bossanova wanted to be dragged into this, so there wasn't much to say. Although, really, she was the only one who ever seemed to protest...
Rich kids were so odd...
"Hello," She finally offered, figuring she might as well say something, since the twins were busy...hanging all over her. Well. They'd notice new people if she noticed them, so she'd accomplished...something.
Haruhi was being more quiet than usual--mostly because she was afraid the twins would take something into a suggestion again. The costume was bad enough! It was best if she didn't talk, for now.
""BOSSANOVA-CCHI!!"" the twins shouted at the same time, sweeping away from Haruhi and crowding around their fellow-freshman. "How nice of you to join us! Still planning on following your apprenticenship with Mori-senpai
( ... )
At Haruhi's vague 'Hello', Kasanoda looked away almost automatically, to avoid meeting those large hazel eyes he so admired. But there was something lacklustre in Haruhi's gaze that evening and she seemed distracted, so he returned her greeting with a hesitant, "Good evening," before being immediately spun away by Ouran's resident mischief-makers, the Hitachiin twins.
Not to be intimidated by their subtle threats, Kasanoda merely narrowed his eyes at them in acknowledgement, shrugging off his vague unease every time they spoke creepily in unision, and turned away to join Mori and Hani at their table.
However, their last statement caught his attention. Cos-costume? he thought. Fu-Fujioka in costume?
As if he didn't see her in costume enough every time he came to visit the Host Club. Wondering what she could possibly wear this time, he hung aroung to see ...
Watching the mischievous twin kidnap the poor girl once again, Hani excitedly pondered about how Haruhi was going to look. He knew that she looked cute in anything the twins practically forced upon her, but nonetheless it was still exciting to see what they may have come up with this time. Looking up at the taller upperclassman, he happily smiled while hugging his precious bunny close to his chest. "Hehehe~ I wonder how Haru-chan is going to look in a pirate costume~ I bet she'll look really cute~♥ ne~ Takashi
( ... )
Miniscule beads of sweat rolled down Kasanoda's forehead. He swallowed, and speaking despite the sudden dryness in his throat he stuttered, "Cos-cos-costumes? Us?"
He was seized by a brief flashback of the traumatizing memory of his first encounters with the Host Club, when they tried dressing him up in neko ears and a maid costume, to hugely disastrous results. He wasn't sure costumes were such a good idea where he was involved. As if hinting to this dark memory, he murmured, "Ano~, Haninozuka-aniki. I don't think that's such a good idea ..."
But his tentative warning was drowned out by the buzz of the milling crowd, and even after shooting desperate glances towards Mori, Kasanoda found himself being slowly dragged towards a nearby changing tent. Trying to marshall his frayed thoughts, only a single phrase took form in his mind: "This is going to get ugly."
"Ah, do I really need this patch? It's odd to see with one eye..." Coming out of her changing room without much flash (she really wasn't one for dramatic entrances, on the whole, although she normally got dragged into them) Haruhi adjusted her eyepatch once more.
She didn't really see what pirates had to do with cooking, but what did anything ever have to do with anything else here?
Noticing the twins were not yet back, she glanced around and went back over to Hani-senpai's team again, just in time to hear the mention of costumes. "Would you have anything ready on this short of notice?"
Noticing the brunette come out of the dressing tent, Hani's eyes glittered as he, not only cut off the red-head, but started to push him towards her. This was going to be so much fun. It honestly didn't matter what they wore. The blond was filled with joy just knowing that they had a new comrade join their team and was going to be making cake, of all things
( ... )
""Now now, Hani-senpai!"" the twins said in unison, appearing from seemingly nowhere to pat the little blonde on the head. ""Half the fun of our costumes was that no one else was going to wear them!""
But then they realised that, as soon as they said that, the loli-shota side of this host would certainly pop up. "Ah, but... Of course, if you can find a little something in the back of the truck--" Hikaru hastened to say, not wanting Hani-senpai to burst out into tears. He gave a swift nod to one of his mother's attendants and turned back around to hook his good arm around Kaoru's shoulders as they faced Haruhi.
The twins' devilish grins spread back over their faces. "Are we ready to beat Tamaki, men?" Hikaru shouted cheerfully.
When no response came from the brunette before them, the twins released each other and hooked onto Haruhi as they carried her away from preperation area and out towards their table. ""CAN I HEAR AN AYE-AYE, CAPTAIN?!"" they chorused.
