"Just a litle, Kaoru-kun," she replied. There as no point in lying and say that he hadn't surprised her. Darya made it a point to tell the truth as often as possible, even if she sometimes told the truth very creatively and with much twisting of words. "I wasn't expecting anyone to come up to me. Usually people don't." Setting the book down on the sill, her attetion briefly drifted to the dark skies outside. It was shaping up to be quite a nice little storm, really, she thought. It brought a smile to her face.

"I'm fine, thank you," the slightly shorter girl replied easily. "I was reading," her hand gestured to the book, "and then the weather started to turn. It's been a while since I've watched a storm blow in. And I could ask the same question as you. I don't notice you in here too often." Darya really wanted to be outside at the moment, and if Kaoru wasn't there she probably would have snuck out. She wasn't above playing in the rain like so many of the other girls she knew were. A wild crash of thunder echoed, followed by a streak of bright lightening. "It's lovely," she commented softly, almost absently, pale eyes glowing with excitement.

Kaoru chuckled lightly. She really had been caught up in the storm, then, not to notice him until he got so close. If most people didn't come up to her, well, Kaoru wasn't most people. She interested him, and he and his brother tended to investigate anything that interested them to a great degree-- until it lost their interest, that was.

"That poem you quoted was by Poe, wasn't it? Fitting for the storm..." Kaoru paused, then shrugged at her gentle inquiry. "I like literature. You probably didn't notice me because Hikaru isn't here." It was a strange thing, but one that worked well when they wanted to be sneaky-- the twins weren't nearly so noticable when they were seperated. But maybe that was only because they were rarely causing so much mischief apart as they were together.

In any case, it meant Kaoru had a quiet library to peruse and under the radar of the fangirls, when he wanted it.

The rumbling skies brought his gaze outside again. He wouldn't've minded going outside, if it weren't for his Host Club duties after school and Hikaru not being there. Them coming in wet and dripping probably wouldn't make Kyouya very happy.

(OOC: Them playing in the rain would be so. cute.)

"Yes, Poe. Most of his work does go nicely with stormy weather. His stories can be quite chilling." With a light laugh of her own, Darya pressed her fingertips against the cool glass of the window. "Oh, I spend a lot of my free time here. I love books -- well, words, really. I write as much as I read, though most of it has no value what so ever." Pausing for a moment, she gave Kaoru a considering look. "You're a bit...calmer than Hikaru-kun, especially when you're apart." While it sounded like it could be a question, it was more of a statement. "I'll have to watch for you from now on, then."

It wasn't as surprising as it should be, Darya thought, that Kaoru would like literature. She knew he and Hikaru played up the whole twin thing, and that there was more to them then that. It just took a moment to add 'Kaoru likes to read' to what she knew, or thought she knew, about him. That wasn't something to puzzle through right now, though, not when the storm kept drawing her attention. It was too perfect; she imagined she could almost already feel the rain on her face and the wind in her hair, and regretted that she was stuck in school. She sighed to herself as she looked out the window. It would be rude to abruptly make an excuse to get away, but still...

OOC: I was thinking the same thing. They totally should.

"No value?" Kaoru quirked an eyebrow. "How do you know?"

He paused at her observation, then smiled. "Ah, but I might actually be Hikaru, not Kaoru. Maybe I lied earlier. Are you sure?"

He paused though as he followed her gaze again. It really was a shame to let such a wonderful storm go to waste. Where was his brother, anyway? It shouldn't take him this long. And hadn't Kaoru been going to do ... something? He'd forgotten now.

"Looks like it's really starting to pour," He observed softly, wistfully. Well, he'd make due.

OOC: XDXD They should. They so should. I just dunno how to get them out there!

"I hardly think the ramblings of a sixteen-year-old school girl are in very high demand these days," she shrugged. Her eyes flickered over to Kaoru again, observing him. One eyebrow rose at his question. Could she be sure that this was really Kaoru, and not Hikaru? No, not really. "You might," she agreed with a smile. "But my intuition tells me that you weren't lying earlier. I could be off, of course."

Darya made a soft 'hmm' noise to agree; the rain was coming down in buckets. "No, I really don't think you were lying earlier," she said, mostly to herself. Then there was another roll of thunder, loud and crashing, and with that her mind was made up. "Let's go." Turning to face Kaoru, she reached out and grabbed his hand, all traces of the quiet, bookwormish girl gone. Her eyes were bright with excitement, and she wanted out, and who better to break school rules with than one of the Hitachiin twins? "You want to go outside as badly as I do, I can tell. Let's go."

OOC: Taken care of! xD

Kaoru smiled for a moment, really smiled. So she didn't think he was lying? Well, he hadn't been, but that was not the point. She hadn't gotten flustered as most of the other girls would have, and though he had thrown some doubt into her calculations she still sounded quite sure of herself. And he wasn't used to holding someone's attention all by himself for so long. It was... an entirely new feeling.

Eyes widening in slight surprise as she grabbed his hand, Kaoru paused, glancing back over his shoulder out the window. Reflexively, he clasped her hand back. Then he chuckled, turning back, and his grin turned almost devilish. "You might get wet," He cautioned, still grinning. Well, obviously. "Or muddy..."

Darya laughed, looking at Kaoru with a pointed stare that wouldn't have looked out of place on Kyoya. "A little mud never hurt anyone," she replied. She had jumped in quite a few mud puddles in her childhood, much to her parent's dismay. Since her brothers didn't seem to hold with things like that, she often took it upon herself to what they wouldn't. They never looked too happy about it.

"Unless you don't want to get muddy." Her smile wasn't devilish like Kaoru's, but it was sly and challengeing, and mischievious enough to hint at trouble. Letting go of his hand as it would hardly do to be seen dragging him out of the library, Darya turned and started walking as quickly as she could without breaking into a run towards the library doors.

Was he being... challenged?

Well, there was certainly no way he could say no now. Even if Kyouya get irritated at them coming in for club duties wet, so what?

Hikaru, Kaoru thought as he jogged to catch up with Darya, Come play with us outside!

There was, of course, no chance that Hikaru actually heard him, but Kaoru felt better nonetheless as he reached Darya's shoulder and the two of them power-walked out of the library. Kaoru saw the head librarian give him a suspicious look as he left, but he merely smiled her way and waved.

This was shaping up to be a fun day.

Darya didn't think she'd ever be happy to be leaving the library, but in this case playing in the rain seemed so much more important than books and words. She didn't miss the look the librarian gave Kaoru, and probably herself; if they were going much faster they would be practically running. The poor woman, she had probably seen so much oddity in her days working at Ouran, what with the number of highly interesting students that seemed to go there.

There were few students around to give them odd looks, and when the library doors shut behind them, she picked up her pace. A few flights of stairs, a few hallways -- then the doors. Darya barely had to pull on the door to open it; the wind caught it and sent it banging back, letting the cool, damp air into the front entry of the school. It was absolutely pouring and wild, and she took a moment to stand still and watch.

I can just see Kyoya's glare if they did show up to the Host Club soaking wet. xD

Kaoru ignored the looks as they made their way to the entrance. He had been on the lookout for Hikaru, but his brother stubbornly refused to be found, and in anycase they were here already. The front lawn was certainly the best place to go if one wanted to play in the rain.

He raised his arm to shield his eyes from the blast of cold air and mist. It was really raining out there... he lowered his arm slowly, revealing a grin. He didn't mind the cold so much.

There was no one else outside -- he doubted many the high-class students of this school would subject themselves to such things -- but that was okay, it meant more puddles for them. After a moment, he reached down and grabbed Darya's hand, tugging her outside.

Smiling as Kaoru pulled her outside, she shivered as the wind caught them full-force. She would probably be absolutely freezing later, but she didn't care at the moment. She let Kaoru lead her to the steps before she stopped and gently pulled her hand back, taking a moment to slip off her shoes and the white thigh-high stockings that went with the uniform. There was no point in ruining a perfectly good pair of shoes, afterall, and she made sure they were still out of the rain before she started down the steps.

The first drops of rain felt cool on her skin, though she didn't pause again. Instead, she linked her arm through Kaoru's like they were going on a normal walk, laughing sligthly as the storm started to soak their clothing. "This is too perfect, don't you agree?" she commented, looking up at the redhead.

Kaoru didn't bother to take off his shoes. He was sure he could find a change of clothing if he needed it later, and anyway, he was too impatient to be out in the rain. He smiled as she linked her arm with his, and he instantly switched to playing the gentleman escort, walking her down the path as their steps splashed through the deepening water on the walkway.

At her question, Kaoru paused. It was perfect. Almost perfect, were it not for his conspicuously missing brother. And also the absence of a water fight. But he was sure those things would all come in due time, so he could wait-- for a little while longer, anyway. "Almost," He replied thoughtfully. He looked up at the dark sky, marveling at the way the rain looked when veiwed that way and blinking as the droplets hit his face. "So do you do this often?"

Darya loved the way the slick concrete felt under her feet -- cool and almost soothing. She, too, wanted to actually play, but was also sure that would happen sooner rather than later. She reached up and pulled her hair out of its bun with her free hand; it was starting to get heavy from the rain and she didn't want a headache. Smiling as the rain started to plaster her hair to her head and in her face, she took in how different the school grounds looked in the rain. It was nice.

"Almost?" She didn't bother to keep her curiousity out of her voice. Darya honestly wanted to know why it was almost perfect. "Whenever I can; I love storms," she replied. "Used to drive my parents up a wall, to have me trailing into the house soaked and muddy. They got used to it." Granted, nowadays when she took walks in the rain she was careful to remember to leave towels on the front porch so she could dry off some before going to her room, so maybe that was why they didn't complain. Lack of mess. "Do you?"

His coat was getting heavy, and underneath his shirt was already beginning to stick to his skin. He didn't mind though; the rain felt wonderful.

Things did look very different in the rain. Everything seemed less populated: deserted, even, like they were the only ones in the world. They were in clear veiw of the windows on the side of the school, and Kaoru wondered how many people saw them outside and thought them insane.

He paused at her question, thinking. "Well," He began, truthfully, "I'm waiting for Hikaru, to tell you the truth. Not that this isn't fun..." He raised both eyebrows to assure her, then paused. Hikaru could start a water fight game right away. Kaoru, on the other hand, was a bit more reserved.

He cleared his throat. "My brother and I used to play outside in the rain sometimes. We'd get so muddy our maid would call us in and clean us up, but then we'd go right back outside again. I'm sure we drove our parents up the wall as well." But he smiled when he said, not at all regretful.

"Oh, do you think he'll be able to find you out here? I'd hate to cause you two to miss each other." She smiled softly to assure him that she knew he was having fun. "If you two were anything like you are now, I'm sure you drove your parents up the wall, too." Her voice was teasing; she could easily see the twins being quite troublesome as kids.

Darya loved the way the lightening and thunder crackled over their heads, occasionally lighting up the grounds around them. She could just make out the field and maze to their right, and gently pulled Kaoru in that direction.
