Hikaru arched an eyebrow in reply, coming around the table to slide into a chair across the way. "Judging by Tono's expression and constant glances this way... That he has already talked to you?"

He propped both elbows on the table and gazed over at Darya, resting his chin ontop of his hands.

Kaoru stood a moment longer. "And Kyouya as well, we heard." A pause, and he too took a seat on the other side of her, watching her with a deep scrutiny.

Better safe than sorry when it came to all matters Haruhi. Kaoru doubted they as brothers could do any better a job at bullying than Kyouya could, but when bullying failed, annoyance never did.

Darya shrugged, smiling at the mention of her 'showdown' with Kyouya. She supposed it wouldn't have stayed a secret for long, at least not between the club members.

"I'm not going to go around telling people about Haruhi. I told both of them that already." She glanced between the twins, annoyed that she couldn't tell them apart. There had to be some way to do it, but at the moment she wasn't sure just how. It would be something to work on, eventually. "I'm not a threat. I just happened to be listening in on the wrong conversation and got caught out."

Hikaru laughed, dropping one hand onto the table and leaning into the palm of the other one. ""We figured...""

He exchanged glances with his twin, noticing the ever-so-slight hint upon Dary's face that she was having trouble telling between the two of them. ""But as long as you keep that promise, you don't have to worry about us.""

Innocent smile.

((ooc note: when Kaoru and I talk like ""this"", it means we're speaking at the same time xD we just made that up now))

Kaoru chuckled, mirroring his brother in pitch and tone. ""We figured... But as long as you keep that promise, you don't have to worry about us.""

He gave her his best innocent smile as well; the exact expression that usually made anyone who knew them at all begin to worry.

He leaned over the table, mimicking his brother's form, his chin resting gently on his palm.

Both twins, sitting across the table from each other, made a perfect mirror image.

Darya studied the twins, taking in their identical features and mirrored posture. Of course they would know she wouldn't be able to tell them apart; so far only Haruhi seemed to be able to, and even Darya couldn't figure out how the other girl could do so. It was a mystery.

"You two really are quite the pair," she commented, looking thoughtful. After a moment she adopted the same posture as them, resting her chin against her palm. "I don't know if I could stand having someone else that was just like me," Darya mused out loud. "How do you manage it?" If they were there, she might as well talk to them.

Kaoru's eyes slid sideways to regard his brother. It really was like looking in a mirror sometimes; better, perhaps, because Kaoru trusted his brother far more than a mirror to tell him how he looked ( ... )

"I don't know. I've never had someone close enough to me to understand what it's like to feel so connected to another person. Maybe you two are the lucky ones." A tiny frown settled on her forehead as she thought about it. She had never given much consideration to having someone else that knew you as well as you knew yourself much thought. "I'd like to say it's just a matter of what you're used to, but I don't think it's all that simple, really. I'm not particularly close to my siblings -- we fight more often than not and I admit that I can be a right bother to them at times -- and it's...well, you two really are lucky to have each other. Then again, I'm used to being seen as an individual -- doesn't it get bothersome that people can't tell you apart?" With a shake of her head and an embarassed smile, she glanced away from the twins.

"Sorry. I tend to think out loud, especially when I'm trying to understand something. I really don't mean to ask such personal questions."

Hikaru's gaze slid sideways at the same time as his brother's, their eyes meeting and the knowing look passed between their expressions briefly.

Without a word even being spoken, the older Hitachiin twin knew exactly what was passing through his brother's thoughts. That look... He knew that look well. He often had it when the fangirls turned their backs...

Another one that couldn't break their spell--or maybe their curse.

Instead, Hikaru smiled with Kaoru. "We've been together since birth," he continued afer his twin left off. "We may be a mirror of each other on the outside, but it's how we fit together on the inside that keeps us so linked."

He reached out and touched Kaoru's hand. "As long as we can tell each other apart, and we have friends like the Host Club that can as well... that's all we really ask for."

Kaoru turned his hand over, accepting Hikaru's into his. "And for as long as it lasts... we're content." He met his brother's eyes again and his smile changed ever-so-slightly; for once the tenderness wasn't an act.

Well, maybe not entirely an act.

Did it ever bother them, though? It was a good question. In his mind Kaoru saw snow and torn letters whirling together.

He looked back at the girl again, thinking. She was different than what they were used to, wasn't she? Whenever the other girls began such questions it was mostly just to see their reactions. When Darya asked, it seemed born of a desire to actually know.

"It doesn't really bother us." Pausing a moment more, Kaoru added with a small grin, "It's actually a lot of fun."

"Would you be happier if everyone could tell you apart? Ah, you don't have to answer that. I'm asking too many questions."

Darya looked up a Kaoru and laughed. "Oh, I can tell you two have fun. I don't blame you for playing around with the girls. It's rather entertaining, really. But then again, I have a feeling that's why you do it." Leaning back in her chair, she glanced between the twins again, looking for any little thing that could hint at who was who. She just didn't know enough about them to be able to tell them apart, at least not yet, she decided. Whether they really did like it that way or not wasn't her business. She did have a tendency to question everything, even when she shouldn't, or would be bordering on seeming nosy and not just curious.

"If everyone could tell us apart, then there would be no fun behind our games." Hikaru's smile faltered only for an instant, his eyes straying over towards his brother.

Games do get old, a small voice nagged.

No. Not this one.

He laughed then, squeezing his Kaoru's hand quickly before letting go and leaning back in his chair. "You know, I can think of someone who is just like you, but looks nothing like you, Darya-senpai. In a sense, I think you have found a twin of your own."

If everyone could tell them apart... would they still be them?

Rather than follow that line of thought, Kaoru let his brother answer. He blinked at Hikaru's observation, then laughed himself. "This might turn interesting."

Kyouya had seemed to be in a bit of a bad mood lately. Kaoru wished they could've been there to see the show down-- two Kyouyas would be very interesting.

Pause.

Or very scary.

Kaoru blanched at the thought, glancing to Hikaru.

Darya looked curiously at Hikaru. "Really? Who?" She had never been told that before; there weren't many people that she seemed to be compared to, and she liked it that way. She wasn't exactly sure what the twins were getting at at the moment.

"I can't think of anyone enough like me to be a twin."

The sly look normally reserved for Tamaki slid onto Hikaru's features and he let out a slow laugh. He tilted his head towards his brother, rolling back his eyes to glance at his twin.

"Kaoru... She can't think of anyone..." His eyes slowly slid back down towards Darya and his face broke into a rather... evil... grin.

"...No one at all?" Kaoru leaned back in his seat, the same evil grin twisting his own face. "Really, Darya?"
