Now is the time to craft our symbol. To be more straightforward, we need an emblem and a flag.
Actually, the emblem comes first because a flag is easy once you have that. Since I first envisioned this community, I wanted to create a symbolic flag and/or such that represented what it stood for. What exactly does the Revolutionaries stand for? Well... that's for you to decide!
For those that are willing, I want you to design your own emblem for the Revolutionaries. While this is partially inspired by a similar effort in Guild Wars, I want it to be capable of representing both this community and my (our) guild in the game. However, it's not said if custom emblems will be used in GW yet, so don't base it too heavy on that aspect. It's a nice dream though.
So, there you have it. It's up to YOU to take it into your own hands to design an emblem for the community. I have officially commissioned Ganonguy to make one, but I figured why not give the opportunity to everyone else? In the end, we all have to vote and ratify it.
Here are the rules:
1) No profane or obscene gestures, obviously.
2) Try and make it look professional and not goofy. We don't want smiley face bumblebees on our flag. =P Of course, submit whatever you want because it would still get rejected, hopefully. Like I said, TRY.
3) You can submit as many as you want. Not just one, but two or three or five. As many as you feel like making and truly believe are worthwhile.
4) If you use color, try and use the Revolutionary dual colors of Navy blue and Silver. These are the colors I picked out myself for lack of consensus. I'm open to suggestions if you don't like these colors. As a tip, make multiple versions of the emblem in different colors, especially a black and white version.
5) The deadline is April 12th. I think this is ample time to get some work done. If you're really into it, then you'll get something good done in this time. If you're not, well... then you really shouldn't be doing this in the first place. I'll make another post on that day and everyone can post their submissions in the comments.
Here are some Guild Wars samples. I think they look pretty good. Maybe they'll inspire some ideas --
