Obligatory

So first off, I should prolly mention the rating system I think I will use for things from now on. From best to worst it goes:

Worth Owning
Worth Doing
Worth Doing At Reduced Cost
Worth Doing For Free
Worth Being Paid To Do
Not Even If You Paid Me

Obviously, based on what's being rated there may be some modifications. For example, a movie that is "Worth Doing At Reduced Cost" would be "Worth Renting." Get it? So from there we have to go to...

Okay well it was obviously better than the third movie. The major reason for that is that all the bad casting had allready taken place, and the new casting was pretty damn good. Although Rita Skeeter's hair coulda been darker, in my opinion. The effects were good (even the dragons didn't really bother me, though I pictured those bigger). My only real major problem with it (besides Dumbledore's freakishly large hands, did you see those? they were creepy!) was that it didn't seem like the filmmakers knew whether they were making it for people who had read the novels or people who hadn't. I thought most of the changes from the original story were at least explainable and served their purpose without detracting from the spirit of the story, but there were just enough of them to annoy the HP reader. Unfortunately, the flip side was that there wasn't really enough explanation or development for those who haven't read the story to even understand what was going on.

Overall, the movie just gave me hope that the fifth movie (based on a shorter book) may be good. The director did a good job with very little to work with (mediocre screenplay and terrible character development from Prizoner of Azkaban). I would have liked more, but this was certainly an improvement.

Based purely on the quality of the movie, and not the fact that it's Harry Potter, I'd say it's worth seeing for free.5.

Also, I should probably mention Mario Kart DS. The game is beautiful and returns to the original game dynamic that made the series so much fun in the first place, while adding the hassle-free environment of wireless play through the DS. You can even play online with up to 3 other people. And possibly the coolest feature is that up to 8 people with DS systems can play off of just one cartridge, even if it is in an extremely limited form. This one is definitely worth owning.

Other than that I do too much chem. Every weekday (until today) over the last week or two has started with a solid block of at least five hours of chem, and most of the days have been 10-12 hours of it over the course of the day. Ugh.
