We are gathered here to mourn the loss of a dear, dear friend, Bubs' Playstation 2. She did not live a long life as far as most systems go, though she served us all well (however dirty that may sound). But, PS2 was more than just a 4th-gen gaming console, she was a much-loved friend and teacher of 5 long, devoted years. My only regret is not knowing her better. If only i had not given up gaming for such a large part of my high-school career, maybe, just maybe, there would not be so much left unsaid. If only we could thank you for all the joy, all the late night gaming, all the wonderful memories that you brought to our lives. Thinking back through the years, I recall such favored events as our first Gran Turismo 3, the rush of Blitzball in FFX, as well as the disappointment in the new hero of MGS2, and the frustration of the spinning towers of death of God of War. You have always been there, through thick and thin, sticking it out with the best of us. I can only help but think that the strain I have placed on you during the 24 hr runs through GT4 may have had something to do with your early appointment with video gaming's God,
William A. Higinbotham. I am sorry, I just wish there was something I could say to express how I feel, my friend. At some time, I thought I could keep you alive forever, a little twist here, some rubbing alcohol there, but alas, it is beyond my capabilities as an engineer or a man. I know you would not want us to draw such formalities out; they could only serve to lengthen the mourning - you would want us to carry on, our heads held high, hoping for a brighter future, and to keep the laughter and fun, that only video games invoke, flowing. Thank you, my friend. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We now commit you to the cyber-soil that all electronics are born of and all return to.
Good bye my friend, I will miss you.
