Lunchtime in the Laboratory

MTA was a blast. Literally. Several of them.  The drive back sucked a bit - over 4 hours, so I was dead-to-the-world Sunday night. Likewise, after my usual Monday evening, got on the computer and crashed while typing.  I haven't gotten around to Youtubing the videos yet, but did upload pics. This includes a couple of vidcaps:

Note the freakish color of the sky for that weekend - it's blue.  One of the nicknames for MTA is Mud To the Ankles.

I lugged my modern sleeping bag to the Fort, Saturday evening. Did not use it, or the blanket I'd brought with. I was fine with the couple of Fort-owned blankets on my straw bed. Also did not freeze when doing a midnight perambulation. Win.

Courtesy of Dr. Atkins, I had to forgo the mince tarts (Dammit!).  However, there were sufficient gobbets of flesh, and chunks of cheese, that I was well fed.  I had some meatrolls that resembled Rouladen, with the traditional pickles. I may try the traditional version rather than my family recipe, next time I do them.

Had a fun moment on Saturday, while doing medical.  We were talking about trephining someone for concussion. I'd drafted a young lady for a "patient", and told the audience,

"One of our problems, 350+ years before CAT scans, is that if you're showing concussion symptoms, you're already circling the drain.".

They responded that my "patient" was French and didn't speak much English.  I turned to her, and switched to,

"Si tu viens chez moi avec des symptômes de commotion cérébrale, t'es déjà presque morte.".

Totally freaked my colleague Terry with the bilingual surgical procedure...

Saturday night with pirates:  Sing-along of chanteys and bawdy drinking songs, accompanied by Terry on Bodhran and Fred on Rumple-Pot.

Back to work, and dealing with an over-the-weekend failure of SSL certificates. My lack of faith in, and hatred of, Macs, is renewed.

[ETA] forgot to mention, was really neat getting to meet driftingfocus  and meapet  in person.
