Tomorrow and Monday, then I'm off for the year. Got the shopping done for Saturday's dinner. Means I can focus on shoveling, if necessary, to make our Circle's Yule festivities. Sunday is the gathering of the (SCA) clan.
We had our departmental potluck and Dutch Auction Gift Riot Exchange, Tuesday. Someone obviously thought the rules for July's White Elephant Disposal applied this time -- Got a tree ornament, pretty much a gag gift as far as I'm concerned. My contribution was a Starbuck's card for a bit of caffeine. I made Lamb with Spicy Yogurt Sauce. Should probably have backed off somewhat on the amount of sauce, as apparently some people didn't realize there was chunks o carnivore chow under the sauce. This did mean, however, that I brought home a dinner or two's worth.
Got word today that my most recent Ebay acquisition has shipped. It's a refurbed-and-working, 1960s vintage Singer sewing machine, rated for up to 3-4 layers of soft leather, or 6-7 layers of heavy canvas. It's coming from Idaho, so probably fairly late next week for arrival. Or maybe it'll land after Xmas.
I'm working on preliminary design / plans for a PVC demonstrator model of a medieval / renaissance field gun. I've seen one done by the guys up in Eisenthal, and you can't tell from 10 feet away that theirs isn't real. This will give me a non-shooting "toy" cannon that I can use in teaching environments where real artillery is a no-no. Need to have that complete by February University...
Saturday, I suspect I'll be shoveling. A bunch. Sunday, will need to bake a bunch of mince tarts for the party.
