I'd been in a car accident on the way into work. Stopped by the shop today, and picked up my fixed-up wheels. Big shout-outs are due, here, to GEICO and Mastercraft Auto Body in Manassas Park.
This means, of course, that I'm going to be packing and loading till late tonight, and starting early tomorrow. The plan is to take heavy stuff, and non-perishable supplies, up to Land Grab. Get my tent up and ready for War, and deal with stuff like checking in to Chi Point, golf cart waiver, etcetera. Then, early Monday, back down to NoVA to prep for the rest of War. I'll be up there for good by Wednesday afternoon.

Got the mortar's limber chest cleared out and organized. Snagged some new cooking gear. Still have a lot to do Monday-Tuesday of next week. Only essential weapon / armor item is the chinstrap on my helm, and I've got a plan for that.
Rolled cartridges for the gun class, last week. Any leftovers from the class, we can use to prime the guns. Not wanting to go through the entire Jamestown online class just for a cartridge refresher, I googled. After comparing several sites, I found a technique that I've adopted:
The Third Alabama Infantry, CSA (reenactor)'s. There's an extra thumb-flick to open one of their cartridges before biting, but makes them less spill-prone.
Have to de-rust the Dutch oven, since I'm going to try baking for the Stierbach baronial party.
Classes:
- 8/5 @ 1300, Period Small Arms, Safety and shooting thereof (Battlefield)
- 8/10 @ 1300, Medicine, Physick, and Surgery (AS 11)
- 8/11 @ 1300, Evolution of Firearms, Lecture / discussion (AS 11)
On the cooking front, tried a new steak marinade last night. 1/3 C Lemon Juice, 2 T Lite Soy Sauce, ground Rosemary and Thyme 1 tsp each, 1/2 tsp ground Black Pepper, 2 cloves Garlic, minced. NOM. This recipe is a keeper.
Did a large batch of Pomegranate Chicken last week. Ate dinner, froze two more, plus a solo portion for A. while I'm @ War. I've been making a point of cutting out single dinners for her, from batches of stuff I'm making. That way, I'm still "cooking" while I'm away :-D.
Once I'm outta here tonight, the plan is Indian buffet with A., packing for short-term stay up there, and haul out in the AM.
