Oh, my Dwarvish heart has melted! Thank you so much, mystery (for now) author, for such a splendidly written story. If you don't often write about Gimli and Dwarves, I hope you will consider doing so much more often! This story was absolutely perfect. I love the amount of detail, the inter-cultural relations, and the amount of research you've obviously done. I am so very grateful for your gift. ♥

That's a relief! After I'd finished and submitted it I had a fit of panic about whether it was far too happy and fluffy and you'd really wanted something darker, and by then it was far too late ;-)

I don't often write a lot of Dwarves (except Gimli, and then usually, as here, in conjunction with Legolas), so I'm delighted that they pass muster! (And the Rohirrim snuck in too...)

As for the research, that's half the fun - I enjoyed rootling around on Wikipedia looking up pre-modern methods of smelting and casting steel. Very glad you liked the overall result!

I haven't read a LotR story in far too long. This one reminded me of so many things that had me reading the first time around. I loved all of the details around the creation of the gates, but even more, I enjoyed the interactions between the characters and how this gift affected them all.
