So, how about a brief review of this year in concerts, vacations, and friends, among other things.
March: for spring break and my senior trip my mom decided that we should go to France along with my aunt, my nana, and my nana's sister. I ended up having a better time than I thought I would, saw a lot of beautiful things, and got to explain to a woman in French that my great-aunt had forgotten one of her bags in a room days earlier, and that it would be AWESOME if the hotel could ship the bag back to the United States. I also got accepted to Berklee College of Music and felt like a total badass when I turned them down.
May was an awesome month. I turned 18, saw the Hold Steady for the first time (totally changed my life), and I graduated 7th in my class and gave my graduation speech. Yes, a very good month.
In June I got my job back, got denied a promotion, quit my job, and vegged.
July I went to SC, decided I never wanted to go back, and chilled at my house since I decided against getting a job at all. I also went to SC with Michelle despite the fact that I'd never really spent more than a few hours with her at a time on only a couple of occassions. It went very well and was the most fun I'd ever had on a family vacation.
In August I saw the Hold Steady for the second time at the SonicMuse Fest with Michelle, got some things taken care of, and left for Belmont.
In September I got adjusted to college, saw (and met) Elvis Costello, met and fell head over heels for a great boy, and made some great friends.
October was another month of great college experiences, a great boyfriend, a great Ryan Adams show and a KILLER Hold Steady show that I went all the way to Knoxville to see, threw up in a trashcan while laughing before the Hold Steady concert, and loved being alive completely.
In November I almost saw Regina Spektor, but she never showed up, Saw Josh Ritter with Stephen and Justin where I got carded at Exit/In (so we had to go back to the dorm to get my ID), saw the very last Nickel Creek show where Gillian Welch and David Rawlings were surprise guests (it was, without a doubt, the best date ever), and started wrapping up my first semester of college.
Now in December I've finished my first semester with straight A's, managed to miss Stephen more than I thought was possible, saw some great hockey, and enjoyed being home as much as it's possible to enjoy being home.
here's to next year!
