"What exactly is the point of this?" Rodney asked, holding up the water gun.

"C'mon, Rodney, it'll be fun!" John had the good grace to at least look embarrassed at the blatant lie. "Besides, you're going to lose all that carefully honed skill, if you don't practice."

Rodney snorted, but hefted the gun nonetheless. He'd never admit to anyone, especially not to John, that he missed their target practice. In part, it was because it was all mixed up with the fierce ache that was missing Atlantis, but also because it was tied to things that were better left unsaid about how he felt about John himself.

That seemed to be all the signal that John needed, because he lifted his own gun and shot Rodney right in the face. "Got you!"

"Oh, it is so on, Sheppard!" Rodney started to chase after John, firing blindly, laughing when he managed to hit John right smack in the ass.

They played for what felt like hours, and when they finally stopped, they were both soaked through and dripping. Rodney led the way to his back door, letting John in and ignoring his neighbors who were staring at them. What, hadn't they ever seen a couple of grown men acting like twelve year olds before?

He made his way to the bathroom, dripping all over everything. By the time he made it back to John with a stack of towels, John had closed the back door, and taken off his clothes. All his clothes.

Rodney stared helplessly as John took one of the towels and started roughly drying his hair, only stopping when John looked up at him curiously. He tentatively took off his shirt, and started to dry off, keeping his eyes closed so that he wouldn't be distracted by looking at John's cock.

He only looked up when the heat of John's body pressing up against his got through to him, and the look on John's face was... there were no words. "Shep - John?" Rodney croaked out.

"Shut up, Rodney." Then John's lips were on his, and Rodney was lost.

I liked this, it was very sweet, a bit melancholy, but full of promise.

Aw, I love the image of John and Rodney running all over the place shooting at each other with water guns while the neighbours shake their heads.

Love the easy friendship, and the almost matter of factness of the end.
