I know I'm a morbid kid and all. I practically grew up in a funeral home.
That does not, in any way, mean that I want to sit in said funeral home for three hours reading obituaries and making records of them to earn some extra cash!
I saw an obituary today for a two year old kid. TWO YEARS OLD!! Barely even old enough to string real sentences together! There was another one for a six year old. And a twelve year old! Do you know how angry and depressed this makes me!?
Today it was also brought to my attention that about half the obituaries were for WWII veterans. HALF! Pretty soon, there won't be any left! One of the guys was a medic! The only slightly interesting thing is that about half of those veterans were in the Air Corps *cough* I am SUCH a horrible person!
But it really makes me think. Pretty soon we'll be getting news that some of the Easy guys have died. And those guys are my heroes... And then I start thinkin' about the ones who never made it home...Like Muck, and Penkala, and Hoobler, and Miller...
I guess maybe I'm just to sensitive, but it's really starting to get to me. I almost started crying a little while ago.
EDIT: I just read this a few seconds ago. (they have me on the comp. now...)
He served in the Army/Air Force during World War II. He was a highly decorated veteran, a recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries received after the plane he was in was shot down over France.
I don't know why this bugs me so much...
