There are three standard verb moods in the English language, each of which has both a standard and a passive-aggressive inflection.
Standard indicative: Joe smokes half a pack a day.
Passive-aggressive indicative: Joe smokes half a pack a day rather than care for his family or his own health.
Standard subjunctive: It is recommended that you smoke less.
Passive-aggressive subjunctive: Perhaps that gentleman smoking at the next table would prefer that the rest of us suck directly on a tailpipe or just drop dead right here.
Standard imperative: Extinguish your cigarette immediately or get the hell out of my house.
Passive-aggressive imperative: Thank you for not smoking.
Remember to always use grammar properly, rather than making a horrible mess thereof, and especially pretending superiority therein, lest you be mocked for it by others who are not necessarily yourself.
