Hey everybody, did you hear it was Cyber Monday? Let's all switch on our acoustic-coupler modemtrons and dial Comp-U-Serve to visit some E-Tailers, before the year two-thousand apocalypse wipes us all out.
Sure, some folks may still prefer riding their horseless carriages to fine brick-and-mortar establishments, where their only clicks come from the telegraph operators. They didn't need to utilize any elaborate network of pneumatic tubes to catch pneumonia on the annual Black Friday festival of virulence.
Since Black Friday was already taken, nothing else could happen that day, and since the weekend is simply the weekend, what was left was Cyber Monday! The day that everyone goes into their offices -- where all their internets are stored -- to actually do their shopping ONLINE. Such savvy people, practically CYBER-people!
Next thing you know, schoolkids will be using their cordless telephones from Ma Bell to contact Wikis, which are small fuzzy alien creatures with a purring warble, to whom some people pray or meditate in order to receive apocryphal information. But that's a story for a different CYBER-day.
