okay, so i have to tell the story of my hair and hollywood phil.
we were in harrisonburg and i was pretty damn drunk on sparks and yeungling. i put on shelly's sunglasses and spiked my hair up and joked around about how i had an alter-ego named "hollywood phil". so after drinking even more sparks, i decided at the show i would become my alter-ego hollywood phil. so for the entire duration of the show, i walked around talking shit, referring to myself in the third person, and discussing my agent and publicist. i went up to people i didn't know and said things like "maybe you've heard of me, i'm hollywood phil." ridiculous.
so anyway, this girl was at the venue cutting hair. being in hollywood phil mode.. i made some crack about how i wanted a fauxhawk. she said yes and so i sat down on the stairs in front of the venue and let her cut my hair.
now, let's think through this.. i am wasted. it's because i'm wasted that i don't notice the following things...
the girl who is cutting my hair into a fauxhawk is:
a) 14 years of age
b) using kitchen scissors
c) has no haircutting experience whatsoever
so yeah, needless to say the next morning i wake up in the morning to find huge chunks of hair missing and my hair looks ridiculous. i kinda make the best of it, and sorta rationalize that i'm on tour and it would be punk rock to have a shitty DIY haircut.
but about 4 hours later i realize that's ridiculous.
so we're in philly on south street with time to kill, so i see this $10 haircut place that looks kinda trendy, so i go inside and ask the dude if he could fix the damage that was done. the basic assessment was that some of the cuts were too deep and my best bet was to just stick with the fauxhawk since the sides would have to be way short anyway.
so.. i let a professional finish the job that a 14-year-old girl in harrisonburg started, and thus the fauxhawk was born and hollywood phil died.

we may never know.
