Happy New Year!

Jan 01, 2022 15:53

2021 brought with it several more variations of the Coronavirus such as Delta and Omicron among others. The number of people who has gotten the virus worldwide is just under 300M, with the death toll being about 5,5M. Norway has just under 400K people who has gotten the virus, and 1,305 who have died.

A quick Google search informed me that Norway has a population of 5,484,576 as of Friday, December 31, 2021. In other words, more people have died of the Coronavirus worldwide than there are people in my home country. Which is quite disturbing to think about.

Despite that there is hope, and I genuinely believe we will get through this. Follow the advise we have been given; keep your distance from people, don't stay anywhere with a lot people, keep the number of guests in your home low, and wear a mask if it's advised. Get the the vaccine, and the boosters.

Get regularly tested, especially if you believe you have been compromised. If you won't do it for yourself, then do it for your family and friends. Older people and others with a reduced immune system could die if you don't. Stay in quarantine or isolation if you're told to or even if it's the safer option. The saying 'it's better to be safe than sorry' exist for a reason. Please stay safe.

We live in modern times so we can keep in contact via phones, messages, and the internet. It's not the same as seeing family and friends in person, but it helps. Writing an old-fashioned handwritten letter or card might make someone's day or even week. It shows you have put more effort into making someone happy than just writing an email.

The pandemic has lasted for two years now, and that means that the scientists have had two years to search for a successful vaccine, a remedy, a CURE for us all. They are not there yet, but they're working on it. Stay positive and stay strong. We will get through this.

I hope 2022 will bring good health, good news, good fortune, and all-around happiness for everyone. Happy New Year!
