Charlotte's Web

i just watched 'charlotte's web' (the film, not the play) and oh my goodness, it is just so beautiful.

it was just a really amazingly wonderful retelling of the original childrens classic book by e.b. white, but it welled up such a huge amount of emotion in me i diddnt know what to do with myself.

*spoiler warning - if you dont know the plot and intend to see it - dont read on*
it got to the end, the scene of charlotte's death, and wilbur was being loaded into the truck, and he turns, and charlotte says "goodbye, my sweet sweet wilbur" and wilbur replies with "goodbye charlotte, my friend." and as the truck is driving off, "i love you." oh my goodness, i have literally never cried so hard or for so long in a movie. i was using tissue after tissue after tissue. i was a complete mess. little old me, sitting in my loungeroom at 1 AM bawling my eyes out at a childrens movie.

then the narrator comes in, and has just such a wonderful monologue to conclude the movie. all about how the actions of wilbur made a creature which seemed horrible to the other animals a friend, and how charlotte's web provided the tiniest of miracles which transformed an ordinary community into the magical, because all the people felt they were a part of something special.

wow, i seriously cant believe how emotional i got. tears were streaming down my face, unstoppable, i was sobbing noisily. argh, i cant believe it. the play at YPT has it so wrong. its so not adressing the point of e.b. white's novel. but tonight, the book gained so much respect from me.

everyone has to see this movie. im not sure whether you will cry as much as me, but im sure it will affect you in some way. its just the story of friendship in its truest form, oh my goodness, its so beautiful, i cant get over it. i am such a girly. finding neverland, titanic and moulin rouge used to get me every time, but this was more tears than all three put together, honestly. i had to start using paper towels.

anyway yes, its amazing. see the film. see the play too, if you want to see talented children performing, but it is a very badly written adaption of the book. see the film as well.

yes, that is my story for the evening/morning
