LJ, I'm finally ad blocking you. The Axe 'undie run' video ad on the front page? That was the last straw. The interstitial take-over ad was bad enough, but I shouldn't have to worry about borderline NSFW flash ads on the g.d. front page.

It was a good time while it lasted. Good luck crawling out of your apparent money-hole oblivion.

I use Firefox with the AdBlock Plus plugin. I rarely see ads anywhere on the web.

I use Chrome with an adblock extension. I'm actually somewhat torn about ad blocking as I am sympathetic to the plight of ad supported sites. Additionally, I find advertising to be interesting -- I actually like to see the internet unfiltered, flash ads and all. I whitelist most of the sites I frequent, but LJ has finally taken it too far.

See, if they only showed ads on journals to free MEMBERS or to who chose to opt-in, this might not be bad. But as it stands, these tacky, distracting ads are being shown to every passer-by and random surfer. Not that I'm writing for an audience but if one were? I'd resent what LJ is doing to my content pretty hard.

The LJ ads have been driving me crazy lately. The past two days, I've found it hard to navigate around LJ because an ad pops up just about every couple minutes. It's dumb and I hate it but there really isn't anything I can do about it because I'm at my parent's house and I can't like...change their settings. RAAH!

:| Is there maybe a ad-stripping proxy out there? I've not looked for it myself, but that might be something to research.

The mobile site http://m.livejournal.com/ might be a good basic option, too.
