yesterday, i woke up and took Reyna for a long walk. we were cutting thru a church parking lot, when a raven flew close to my head and started cawing. i looked up at it, and saw that it had a fish in its mouth. this was particularly trippy because this is Prescott, AZ, and fish are... not entirely abundant. not to say that they don't exist, but. yeah.

so, the raven and fish circle my head 3 times, and then start to climb towards the sun. then, another bird flies into the scene, pretty low. it is quite obviously a beautiful falcon, and i just stare up at the sky (incidentally the birds were right over the church's cross). at first i thought that the falcon was after the fish (and it could have been, but it was super non-aggressive which surprised me**)... the birds, after flying SUPER tandem above my head, took off together, still tandem until i couldn't see them anymore, heading east.

** it occurs to me in afterthought that the falcon probably was after the fish, but was flying with the raven to see if it would drop it. and in any case, no matter what the falcon's intent, it was a pretty fascinating thing to see, especially standing in the middle of a Southern Baptist parking lot.
