I'm doing writing prompts on Tumblr. This one's for the prompt Breathless(ness).
There are nearly a dozen waterfalls crashing down to the Throne of the Elements and Skysong Lake. The largest can trap a man under its weight and crush him to the stones beneath but there are smaller ones, gentler, the bulk of their spill broken by the wind long before it reaches the ground. The rest falls in a bracing-cool shower and it’s just enough of a curtain to hide us from view.
He has me pinned with my against the rock, one arm resting on my shoulder, one knee fitted between my thighs. Wrecked and sodden, aching, wanton, he’s caught my mouth and teased open my lips to take me over. He kisses like he has no other purpose in life - gods damn, when did he get so good?
His tongue, wet and searching. His teeth, sharp and possessive. His grip, bruising-strong on my waist. His groin, rock-hard against my leg and hot enough to scald. Between the humidity and our body heat-
Light, I can’t breathe.
Something like worry flashes in the lambent green of his eyes when I struggle to break free of the kiss just to gulp air. It eases away when I sink my teeth into his neck. Short nails catch my skin. The knee keeping my legs apart rises, grinding. He sinks fingers into the hair at the back of my head and he pulls back hard enough, fast enough, to make me gasp and my eyes water and he’s crushing his mouth to mine again, pressing me back with the whole of his body, and Light I feel so small this close to him.
It feels like hours later when he finally lets me breathe. My lips are swollen and I can swear I taste blood. The thought crosses my mind that I could simply speak a Word and have no need for air, the way we used to cheat to make love under the waves, but somehow I think that would take too much of the fun out of this. My lungs burn in protest and I let him claim me again.
