Maaaan, I have a bad feeling that the guy who interviewed me at Great Lakes Granite & Marble didn't really like me too much. The first thing he said when he sat me down wasn't "Hi Justin, let's begin, shall we?" it was, "So tell me, why did you get fired from Home Depot?" and I told him the truth, I told him that I was accused of deliberately skipping ringing up certain items at Home Depot, and a contractor took off with an expensive power tool. and he was like "And you knew the guy, right? You were in on it... otherwise you wouldn't have been terminated..." and I was like "Actually, I had no idea who the guy was." and he was like "well then why did they fire you?" and I said "because it costed the store a few hundred bucks" he said "well how did they know that you did it then?" and I said "well, they allegedly saw it on camera, and since the camera doesn't lie, understandably they had to let me go." and he was like "huh. Well, why do you work?" and this is the part where I fucked my own ass lol.. I said "Well, first and foremost (with a chuckle) a guy's gotta eat." he didn't even smirk. and he was like "That wasn't the question" in a stern voice. and I was like "Well, I work to support my goals to someday graduate from college and get a degree in Geographic Information Systems, so that I might one day have a hand in developing and redeveloping large urban areas." and he was like "and how does that pertain to our company?" and I explained to him that many companies use GIS when they expand, as a means of finding the greatest market." and he was like "well, where did you want to go to school?" and I said "ideally I'd like to go to UofM, but I'm waiting on State, and about to apply at state" and he was like "What was your GPA finishing at Henry Ford? and I said "3.2" and he said "Might as well skip UofM, you'll get rejected." and then immediately said "Don't you have any questions for me?" and I asked him "How did you find your way to the granite fabrication industry?" and he answered in a disinterested voice, "I fell into it." and that was his whole answer. and I said "interesting.. do you have any other locations elsewhere in the state or region?" and he said "No." and that was his whole answer, and to make it that much more uncomfortable, when he was finished with is short, sharp answers... the only thing he did was stare right at me. super uncomfortable. I don't know, man... I'm an outgoing guy, except if I'm worried whether or not the person likes me/accepts me... in which case I clam up and can't speak at an audible volume, and I just get really shaky and sometimes my brain races. it's not pretty, and I wish I knew how to make it stop. I think I need to keep on applying at places until I find a job that I actually WANT. I sort of want to start looking around for some sort of paid internships with urban planning and redevelopment. I just don't even know where to start... I think that I need to start figuring that out. The guy said I'd hear from him in about a week regarding whether or not I'm employable for the company... and that's exactly what he said to me. Nothing less, nothing more. When I said "Have a good one, sir." he just looked at me and said "yup." really fast, and went back to putting marks on my application. Interviews suck, man. I hate them.
