Synopsis:
Kline (Josh Hartnett) is ex-Los Angeles cop, who is haunted by the memories of the serial killer Hasford (Elias Koteas) who almost made him insane and made him quit the LAPD. Now a private detective, Kline is hired by a powerful Chinese billionaire to find his missing son, Shitao (Kimura Takuya). He travels to Hong Kong and enlists the help of an old friend, Joe Men Zi (Shawn Yue) who works for the Hong Kong Police. Following Shitao’s traces leads him to Su Dongpo (Lee Byung-hun), the local gangster and his drug addicted girlfriend Lili (Tran Nu Yen Khe). However Hasford’s memories keep coming back and distract him from his search
Thoughts:
This looks like an extremely disturbing yet interesting movie. It has a great mixture of asian actors involved. Kimura Takuya (SMAP) was asked out of the blue to be involved in this project and the next day he was shipped out to start filming. Lee Byun Hyung, a popular Korean star, plays the role of a violent gangster. I believe this will be Anh Hung Tran first English speaking movie. He's become pretty popular with his past movies, so I'd like to see how he directs this. I'm guessing this will be the debut of both Kimura and Byun Hyung in english speaking roles too. Now we're beginning to see more and more Asian stars crossing over into American movies. Let's hope they brush up on their english skills. :D
