Movie Title: Jyuryoku Pierrot/ Gravity Clown
Year released in Japan: May 2009
Directed by: Junichi Mori
Starring: Ryo Kase, Masaki Okada, Fumiyo Kohinata, Yuriko Yoshitaka, Yoshinori Okada
Synopsis:
The story revolves around a seemingly loving family consisting of a kind father (Fumiyo Kohinata), a beautiful mother (Kyoka Suzuki), their first son Izumi (Ryo Kase), and his younger brother Haru (Masaki Okada). They seem perfectly normal, but the outward appearance of happiness belies the tragic circumstances surrounding Haru’s birth; he is the product of his mother’s brutal rape by a criminal. However, he was nonetheless raised as a normal member of the family-receiving the same love and attention shown to Izumi.
When Izumi and Haru grow up, a serial arsonist begins setting fires and leaving behind puzzling graffiti on walls at the crime scenes. Izumi begins unraveling the mystery of the graffiti, with each location drawing him ever closer to the unexpected truth about genetics and the importance of family.
Thoughts:
It's nice to see Masaki doing something outside the whole high school theme. They also have some great actors/actresses in here. So I'll definitely be checking it out.
