Ugh.

I didn't get to sleep until 4:30 last night, and then i had to wake up at 7 this morning and didn't get a chance to go back to sleep. I laid down at 12:40 last night, and at 1:00 i heard a lot of squeaking from the mouse cage. I just ignored it, because the males get more aggressive at night, and i just thought they were fighting as usual. Well, about ten minutes later i hear a lot of little squeaks. Apparently, one of my females had given birth to 9 mice in a matter of 10 minutes. I tried to separate the mother and the babies from the rest of the mice, but i couldn't tell which one was the mother, because about three mice were taking the babies to different areas of the cage. This whole time i'm thinking, 'shit, these mice are going to eat these babies.' So i eventually just put all the babies under the log in the tank and put more newspaper in there as a nest. I ended up staying up until 4:30 to make sure the males weren't going to eat the babies. I couldn't even tell that one of them had been pregnant, none of the females were very big. And i had just cleaned the cage saturday, too, so i had to take them all out. I'm really hoping that none of them get too aggressive, because i only have two tanks, and i don't want to be separating males from females, then males from males. I mean, as soon as the babies are weaned, i'm going to separate the males and females anyways, because i can't really handle more babies right now, but still. The one mouse with huge balls already thinks he's king shit of the cage. He's always tagging the females. Even last night, he had one right over the babies. He's very aggressive.

I wish Monty would start eating. That way, i wouldn't have to worry about having too many mice. My poor boy. I know he's cold, but i don't have the money for a heating lamp. I also want to put a covering over the heat rock, because i'm so scared he's going to burn himself. I'm going to go check my brothers old iguana cage to see if he's got a heating lamp i can use for now.

I just don't need more stress, and having mice breeding like crazy would definitely add to that.

Edit: 3 days later my other mouse gave birth to 10 more babies. Shit.
