2007's Resolutions

Jan 09, 2007 23:56

I COULD keep this to myself, but this is the one way I look back on stuff to see how I did on my new year's resolutions. So on with it...conveniently placed in categories:

- GUITAR - I want to pursue this further somehow. I was thinking of taking lessons (sounds crazy after playing for 6 years now) to learn proper technique. It seems I didn't quite pick that up by being self-taught. But lessons are freakin expensive; at Tom Lee it's something like $20/half hour. SO, I decided to play guitar at my church's choir (which is amazing btw).
- listen to more artists. Currently I listen to a lot of the same 4 or so bands, and a couple by a bunch more. I want to follow more rock of the past and present.
- continue to learn scales and work on soloing/improvising
- learn more songs. I was thinking of learning like 1 a week but given time constraints, that might not work out.

- MOVIES - watch more movies. 2 movies in theatre a month and 2 movies in DVD that I haven't seen yet a month. If I'm trying to be a videographer or work in the film industry, I really need to watch more movies thatn I do.

- FILM - Learn Final Cut Pro until I'm fairly proficient.
- I would like to pursue this further somehow, either to get a job in the industry, do more short films/documentaries for fun or for film contests, but my career plans are slowly diminishing. Although I do have a project lined up in the summer for a wedding...

- MISC - I want to be a more consistent poker player. My poker friends set up stats and rank each player and the top player at the end of 6 months wins a big pot. We just started a new season and my goal is to finish top 5. My goal for the second season of 2007 is to finish top 3. Seeing as I lost $70 last week doesn't really help, so I'm currently 9th.
- travel somewhere outside of BC. If I go to Boston for work (eBay Live) then I'm definitely going to New York after. If that doesn't work out, then perhaps a cruise, or camping in the states or....Calgary.

Yep, that's it.

On a somewhat unrelated topic, I was thinking about changing career paths to somewhere in music. It's a longer shot than doing something with video or in the film industry (but sometimes I think otherwise), but it's definitely the field I have way more fun and do with passion with. Hopefully this year I can figure out what I really want to do.
