Colin thought the first meeting of the DA had been brilliant. He had always been okay at Expelliarmus, but Harry had really helped him get the spell down. By the end of the night, he and Dennis weren't even making the books fly off the shelves around them.
Colin didn't have much of a problem with Professor Umbridge, personally. He did his readings and she left him alone. But an enemy of Harry's was an enemy of his. Colin knew, of course, that Harry had much greater foes than Umbridge; he wanted to be ready to help fight them, too.
