But besides that ahahahaha. I wasn't even planning for the Murderer series to be longer than 3 fics and uh... it's looking to be longer than 3 fics now. D'oh!

Kaito was right on one point; Shinichi wasn't there, and by his absence he lost the moral authority to vouch for the officers' credibility. To me, anyway.

And Hakuba, well, what a tight position to be in. He pretty much had to be the equilibrium point amidst all the mess. I just hope the syndicate wouldn't hurt him just to screw with Kaito's sanity some more.

The whole "seeing blacks everywhere" that Shinichi offered got me hoping for a possible Ai-Kaito conversation in future chapters. She's the only other person who knows first-hand what it feels to lose loved ones at the hands of the syndicate, and to feel guilt for the crime of taking others' lives, although in her case the act was indirect.

Actually, there is going to be one in the 3rd fic, before the scene with Vermouth and the getting shot in the back, which comes before he gets ensnared by the BO and has to get himself out again, which happens before the scene with Kaito Hakuba and Aoko which occurs before this scene.

... I have a timeline for it on that post with the other fics' chronological orders...
