Notes:

* Body without Organs (BwO), territory, lines of flight, minor language, war machine, assemblage, the rhizome, pack of wolves and rhythm are concepts from Deleuze and Guattari’s A Thousand Plateaus.

I put together this list while working on a writing project dealing with Deleuze and Guattari and Virginia Woolf, and I couldn’t think about anything else. I hope you enjoy the themes anyway. I think the terms are fun to play with as they are, with whatever associations you bring to it. For those interested in the philosophy anyway: briefly, the book embarks on a project that engages with an experimentation in modes of thought. Bodies (of knowledge, thought etc) has the potential to dismantle and reconstruct itself with other bodies in an assemblage-in this process they become a BwO. Without organs-breaks away from the limitation of what is thought of as a particular function of a particular organ.

+ are phrases from my writing project.

8. before departure: a song by PJ Harvey, from her album White Chalk.

9. super sounding riffs: a line from a Sonic Youth song, Skip Tracer from the album Washing Machine

15. Kazuo Ono talks about his performance in terms of embryos and madness, the slim possibility of one sperm fertilising with an egg, and how the rest die. I can’t remember which performance exactly, but I can look it up if anyone’s interested.

19. a night with no moon: a line from PJ Harvey’s song, The Devil, White Chalk

20. there’s danger: a line from a Sonic Youth song, Stones, Sonic Nurse

26. sides of an ampersand: from Amanda Palmer’s song, Ampersand, Who Killed Amanda Palmer-the actual line being ‘on one side of an ampersand’

27. anti-orgasm: a song from Sonic Youth, The Eternal

29. on your belly button: a line from Sonic Youth’s Self-Obsessed and Sexxee, Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star

31. human kindness: a line from PJ Harvey’s When Under Ether, White Chalk

And there are only 30 days in November. Oops. Pick and choose?
