The early morning light streams through the blind, dividing the room into alternating stripes of colour and monochrome. They ladder up the bed with its rumpled sheets, leading the eye to the current sole occupant.
Elsa is asleep and Grant stands at the doorway between bed and bathroom, watching her. She lies on her back, the auburn hair turned to a deep red in the half-light. The waves spill over her pillow and disappear into the shadows. The sheet rides low on her hips and he can see how her bare breasts rise and fall with each slow breath. Her skin is still faintly flushed, her lips still slightly swollen, and there’s a hickey low on her neck; all evidence of how she spent the night.
She’s not been sleeping long and he’s still a little bewildered at her boundless energy, matched only by her inventiveness. Asleep, she looks like an angel, but he knows full well she has a somewhat wicked side. He knows because he can feel where she’s scratched his back.
The light is getting brighter and now she’s stirring. Grant moves to the bed, managing to time his arrival with the moment she opens her eyes. She smiles slowly, and winds her arms around his neck when he bends down to kiss her. She pulls him down so he climbs onto the bed.
She is copper and porcelain; a tough exterior that hides a fragile heart. He is as careful with that as he is her body. He skims the pale flesh almost reverently, watching her eyes close and her mouth open as she groans in pleasure.
As much as he loves to observe her as she sleeps, this is what he prefers; animation, life, for she is full of it and there’s nothing more visually appealing in his opinion.
