"When the hell are you going to stop running away from everything you know, and when the hell are you going to stop pushing us all away?"
Fai needs someone to help him stand his ground, keep him from flying away or going under to face reality, something that only seems to reach him in nightmares on those rare nights that he sleeps.
He needs someone that he knows he can be himself around, because he and his jaw are sick of smiling, and he's tired of clapping for others when he knows he should be helping them.
He needs someone to keep him from giving up, keep him from taking his own life and breaking his promise.
He needs someone to fill the void in his heart that's been there for as long as he can remember.
He needs this journey to end as soon as possible.
He can't always do it on his own.
"I'm not doing any either of those things, Kuro-tan. You should at least know what you're talking about when you speak!"
But he knows he's already run so far and shoved everyone in his path, and he can't find his way back.

"Don't avoid my questions anymore with your silly jokes. Is life and death some kind of game to you? Because I don't want to play anymore, and I will get what I want. This game needs to end, and it needs to end now."

Kurogane needs to go home.
He needs someone to keep him sane on the journey he's been forced into.
He needs someone to protect and value because that's what he was destined to do, and everyone else he swore to defend is just too far away.
He needs someone to care for so that if he kills, there's a meaningful purpose to it all, and not because he wants the blood on his hands as proof of his victory.
He needs someone to show him the meaning of true strength, so that there is no disappointment when he returns, so he doesn't have to ask himself if he should apologize or not.
He can't always do it on his own.
"I'm sorry. Please, please, please... Don't go anywhere."
And they've both finally found what they were looking for.
