Latiucs laid his head on Severus stomach. The two boys were lying in a field far from town. They had wanted to be by themselves, if only for a little while.
Severus began playing with Laticus’ hair. “It is getting long,” he murmured.
“Mother wants me to cut it, but I like it when you play with it,” Laticus replied.
Severus smiled. “I like it long myself.”
“You just do not like Mother.”
“No, she always puts you down. I do not like it at all.”
Latiucs sighed. “I know.”
Severus pulled Latiucs up to lie next to him. “Someday we will not have any family telling us anything.”
“I know.”
They kissed softly and went back to watching the clouds.
