"As you can see she's my girlfriend, and I'd hate to see false accusary thrown her way" The Onmyouji explained with a calculated smile, draping his arm around her shoulder and more to her surprise, leant in to give her a peck on the side of her head "I wouldn't be held responsible for my actions if anything happened otherwise, if you understand what I mean?"
In actualty, she was just her assistant, and he was finding a way to excuse her from her duty and assist him in his, but the act he displayed to convince the council (which was actually more like threatened to unlease a hoard of spirits on them, had made her blush to the root of her hair and given something that could've put her in a good mood for several days.
