Theme: #4 - our distance and that person
Rating: PG 13 for male x male kissing

Summary: Nobody steals from Dr. Jackal.

Akabane Kuroudo smiled as he entered the Honky Tonk and saw two familiar mops of spiky hair, one blond and the other dark brown.

They were cuddled in their favorite booth, sound asleep; Midou Ban with his head leaning on the window, purple glasses slipping down his nose; Amano Ginji contentedly snuggled against him, one hand loosely curled on his partner’s collar. Seeing them that quiet and relaxed was rare for him; in his presence, they were either bristled and snarling (Midou-kun) or wary and jumpy (Ginji-kun).

“Ban-chan…” the dreamy sigh was followed by a couple of unintelligible sounds as Ginji-kun lightly kissed his partner’s neck, then he snuggled even closer to him and quieted, never opening his eyes nor registering the black-clad silhouette just a few feet from them.

That rare glimpse of vulnerability from the Get Backers intrigued Dr. Jackal so he stepped closer to have a better look.

His eyes narrowed as he noticed bruises and cuts in normally unmarred skin. Midou-kun had dirty-red stains on his white shirt and bandages covering his left wrist. Ginji-kun was unnaturally pale, dark circles under his eyes - drained of his energy, perhaps - and there was a small cut in his lower lip still bleeding a little.

So they had been fighting, eh?

A sting of jealousy made the ever-smiling mouth twitch - it was faint, almost imperceptible, but there nonetheless. The scalpels in his body vibrated in sync with the inner turmoil.

“They had a little showdown with Hishiki and the Miroku siblings during a job,” Wan Paul offered from behind his newspaper. “The protectors used a kid as a human shield, the bastards… Ginji took a hell of a beating before Ban managed to free the boy. Good thing he can heal fast. Anyways, they won the fight… but didn’t get paid because the item they retrieved was broken. It seems that not only the God of Money but also the God of Luck hates them.”

“I understand.” Amethyst eyes never left the two boys as he digested what was said.

Warm, sweet blood on soft, peach cream skin. Lean bodies jumping and running, attacking and defending with uncanny speed and strength, lovely faces contorted in fury. He felt his insides churning in excitement just by picturing them in the heat of battle. Ah, Midou-kun, Ginji-kun… such powerful, deliciously unpredictable opponents they were. And so fast they were growing - tougher, stronger, more experienced. Soon, very soon, the Get Backers would be at their prime… and he, Akabane Kuroudo, would have the pleasure and honor to savor their fresh, young blood.

They are mine. I’ve been patiently waiting all this time for them to mature. No one robs me of my harvest.

Hishiki, that grotesque excuse of a protector, and Miroku, that psychotic freak, had dared to pick on what was his, and worst of all, they had used cheap tactics to do it!

In a swift motion the Jackal took off his long black coat and gently covered the sleeping boys with it. Then, he left the Honky Tonk with brisk steps, a gloved hand quickly typing a number on his cellphone.

“Kazuki-san? It’s Akabane Kuroudo speaking. I need information about some protection agents…”
